Default IB Musical Investigation

al Investigation.

Can you please help me. I am taking Music SL and have had three different teachers over the last 18 months - none of whom know the IB !! Although I play the clarinet and classical guitar I do not have any formal training in muscial analysis and terminolgy...

I have to produce the musical investigation next week and was told that the subject I had chosen would not work but not given any suggestions on how to find a workable one.................

PLEASE can u give me a few more ideas of what I could use as I am just about going under with this..........................

What was the investigation you were going to do?
All I can think of for analysing is to analyse a piece in detail. I don't really know what you've been asked to do, but for A level we have set works which we do in depth analysis and essay writing for.

They are very different. Chinese music is much more accessible to western ears as the scales are largely pentatonic and diatonic and it is mostly melody and percussion. Harmony, such as it is, is mostly fifths and fourths, sometimes drones. Japanese music (which I know much less about) seems to be more about texture and contemplation of even single notes and how they are played. Of course they also have melody but the scales tend to sound much more alien.
Do you have access to much material?
