Default Photos from my new 450d

Hey guys. I've been interested in photography for a wee while, but never really did anything about it. Late this summer though I bought a Canon 450D and have been playing around with it and just generally trying to get better with it.

Anyways, here are some of my more fave photos I have taken with it:

Long exposure on the night sky with an orange street light nearby.

Tom. From this very forum ^_^

This is a suspended footbridge in Dumfries, I was playing depth of field.

Colour contrasts of Autumn

September moon

Garden spider Ted

Ted and his lady

My lovely Lab Zak

What do ya think? I hope you like them as much as I am proud. If you want the full resolution versions, just pop on over to my flickr

Nice start with the new camera, the narrow DoF footbridge is my preference from the set.

Thanks for the comments I was quite pleased with the bridge shot, I got it using the canon 50mm f1.8 (Nifty Fifty). Lovely little lens

Like most of them, also especially with the depth of field footbridge one. The first picture shouldn't be in this set IMO.

Genuinely wondering, why shouldn't the 1st picture be in the "set"? I haven't ordered them in any specific way, they are just pics i snapped with my 450d.

Not to speak for freecom2, but here are my thoughts.

The first gives away your lack of experience more than the others IMO. Too many technical mistakes. One being the horrible White Balance (it's brown and nasty looking, change it to a cooler WB for a more appealing hue). The other being the distracting circles of lens flare picked up from the street lamp. Star shots are usually NEVER taken next to any other unnecessary light source, especially one as nasty as a street lamp.

But keep up the good work, I enjoyed them.

Agreed with pretty much this post in its entirety. The thing that gets me with the first photo is the lens flare especially, it's massive blotches over the picture and destroys the point of a night time sky shot. Unfortunately if you're an urbaner that was always going to be a problem. As I said, agree with SMed's post entirely, including the enjoyment of the pictures. Post some more, I'll friend you on flickr or something?

To be fair, I wasn't wanting a perfectly clear night time shot. If I was I would have gone to the other side of town.

But thanks for the constructive crit anyways

In contrast, I thought your night time shots were the best ones. The rest are too generic for me, I have seem shots like them before too often, your first one regardless of its 'technical' mistakes is actually very interesting. But then I am not an expert and much prefer photography as an art form.
