Is anyone appyling for ECA?? I only found out that like 800 people apply for 120 places! Has anyone got any advice in regards to portfolios or interviews?

Well this year they're anticipating about 2000 applicants due to the new system.. It's getting a bit like the X Factor I think. Some advice concerning personal statements: a tutor there told me that the most cliched people to mention are Vivienne Westwood and Jenny Saville, so I'd steer away from those two! Also, regarding portfolios, they aren't looking for polished pieces of work. They're looking for your thinking process and are more interested in the journey you take to come to a conclusion. I'm doing a portfolio prep course there and this is the kinda thing I was told

I am applying for it, good advice is - work loads on sketch books as they have told you before it's more about the developing of ideas, than the actual final work. Although put equal effort on both. Im not really doing well in my portfolio so this advice applies to me too.
Also do extra work outside school and join some kind of art club or classes, this can look good in your PS.

Yep. Went to the open day today. Applying for 2nd year entry for Graphic Design. They have around 15 places. eek.
