Ive worked in recruitment and applied to a lot they dont ask for your attendance/sickness for where you last were but for the last 1-2 years so no your attendance when you were at school is not relevant. What you did in the last 2 years is.

yeah but you can't just float around for years doing nothing 'finding out your purpose in life' you've got to get a job if you don't want to continue your education and contribute towards society

and he's entitled to the benefit so he might as well - but if he's gonna get the benefit he has to actually actively look for work and not go scrounging off society - everyone's got to start somewhere - you don't realise your life's ambtion straight away, especially if he's following the path he is at the moment

''experience'' is of any kind in employment/responsibilities recently undertaken in voluntary things like Rag Week at school etc, not just in the role theyre advertising, the previous poster is correct in that even for cleaning OP would be one of the applicants near the v.bottom of the list.

I don't need it though, I may very well be entitled to it but if I can live fine without it I see no point in taking it. Although free money does sound nice

You can sign up to a job agency I think. My brother does it. They ring you up whenever things come available. Like packing christmas cards or work in hotels. It's just stuff now and again, I think.

Write a CV, print off a few copies and then go round places asking if they have vacancies.
If they do, theyll ask for a cv. If they dont, they might still take it.

Nope, I don't, sorry! Maybe your local job centre might? Or google job agencies and see where that gets you..
I have no idea how my brother found out about it or anything, my bros moved out and I just hear about this stuff from my parents.

These are agencys like pertemps/cga/adecco/manpower but when ppl like myself say they call quite a lot with jobs thats with experience and more qualifications. Their basic jobs are a lot more 'fewer and far between', my brother took ages to find his job not through his lack of trying but because his supermarket experience/as qualifications meant he wasnt as wanted as the many other applicants with a better cv.

But try, try and try.
