How can you be against a single sticky which tells new users about each party and allows them to make an informed choice? Why leave an individual asking multiple questions about our policies, as I was last month. On issues like education, the EU, healthcare and prisons after the individuals had already joined the Labour Party group.

Lets go back to this: http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/show...7#post22057517 why can we not make it easier and not have people asking questions like this but more direct questions after being able to decide which parties most suit them.

Yay, the idea's being railroaded through despite the obvious lack of desire on basically everyone's part.

You could have selected better questions then. But to my first issue, is there no need to change the hoc rules for this?

Not really. Its not conflicting with any HoC rules at present. All parties are being asked to do them, but it is optional. If you don't answer your party just wont appear in the answers.

And stuff like this would be under the guidelines, rather than the rules anyway, so up to speaker interpretation.

I think its a good idea to get comparison between the parties on specific issues. Problem is each party would want different questions, and if we had enough to compare on everything, then the thread would be too long, and barely anyone would read it.

True, but I think these questions won't split the parties that much and aren't things we tend to debate much here (suggesting they're not big priorities for any of the parties). For example, given that we're almost all liberal and passed a bill legalising all drugs, other than the PCP I'd be surprised if anyone was against legalising cannabis. Plus the tax/regulation/business question has so many different parts that either people skip answering bits or get a very high-level answer that doesn't say much. But they do cover a range of issues so should help voters decide on who to vote for.

I think they're rather crud to be honest..

The EU one especially, it means sod all and whether or not the party supports the EU and if someone votes for them for their view, they cannot do anything about it. Atleast that is my interpretation.
