Default Accomodation Swap - Sussex Uni

Hi

I have been allocated Park Village which wasn't really any of my top choices I was wondering whether anyone wanted a swap, I'd ideally like en suite don't mind if its off campus like stamner court.

Let me know

Jess

On the first day o freshers week the housing office have a swop list, so get there first and stick your name on and when a room comes available you can move.

Park Village isn't that bad (and I'd personally much rather have the spare cash than an en-suite!), I lived there in my first year, I say give it a chance. I always think where you live is more about the people you live with and they might be awesome there.

i wouldn't put all your hopes on swapping, when i was in lancaster house most of my floor had put it really low down in their choices and wanted to change, and a couple of people rang up/tried to swap and naturally there were SO many more people wanting to swap from park houses/village to posher ones than the other way round, so it just doesnt work! park village is fine, if the ensuite is what you're worried about dont be, its really really fine sharing a bathroom (unless your home is swanky, you've been sharing all your life anyway!), and out of the two i'd much prefer to live in park village, simply for the campus location- stanmer is a bit of a pain i think, and seems quite out the way, being separated from campus by an underpass.

by all means try swapping, but i wouldn't assume anything will come out of it!

What do you think the chances of swapping from Lewes (non-ensuite) to East Slope / Park Houses? I definitely don't want to right now, but i'm just wondering in case the worst happens to my finances and a few extra quid in my pocket could be quite handy.... there's a £900 difference between Lewes and East Slope!

Also, do people still want to swap in say, the 2nd term?

As someone said somewhere else, I'd imagine you'd be ok as this would be the most popular direction people would want to swap in, i.e. they want to 'upgrade'. There might still be people swapping in the 2nd term but I don't think there'd be many as most possible would have settled in but worth a shot

Around 2nd term there will not be swapping, in the first few weeks people swap. But if you did want to move into an empty room in east slope then it should not be a problem, as some international exchange students come to do 1 term at university, also people drop out after 1st term when they decide university is not for them. So we always have a few spare rooms in east slope, you do pay like a 30 quid fee but thats about it.

I'd swap with you, I'm in East Slope, looking for upgrade to Lewes Court preferably!

Let me know if you're still looking, I know your post was weeks ago.
