It is GOOD on some nights. Glasshouse and The Shed are my usual haunts, cheap and a good atmosphere, and there's a pub quiz at Glasshouse on Sundays - fun times. Engine Shed/Tower Bar are a bit expensive for me unless there's something special going on, other than that, Scream and Spoons on the river front are passable, as is Varsity. Ritzy's is a skankhole, but busy.

Shopping is quite good, there's no H&M but there's a shopping centre with New Look and stuff, a quite big Topman, big Primark, M&S and that sort of thing.

I'm not at the uni but I'm from here and it isn't bad!

Definitely suggest Saturdays over Fridays if you want it to be busy. My favourites are Dogma and Varsity. Quite like Revs even if it is a bit small and Sakura is supposed to be good. I find Ritzy to be really, really skanky too although somehow always end up there. I've never been to the Engine Shed but quite fancy it and I'm not sure what special nights there is. I'm sort of suprised there is nothing going on for Halloween.

Shopping is average. I prefer to go to Nottingham or Newark but there is no shortage of shops in Lincoln. I really do wish we had H&M though!

Shopping isn't bad at all, but if you find it's not good enough there is always Nottingham. I also dislike the lack of H&M

I believe there's a Heaven and Hell fancy dress party at the Glasshouse

Thank you for all the replies, very helpful
Seems about right for me, not too hectic but not dead either.

Are you three from Lincoln or did you move there for Uni? How does it compare to the nightlife from where you're from?

I don't want to clog up the boards by opening up seperate threads so I've got a couple of other questions about the place/uni if you don't mind answering. You seem like a helpful bunch

1) How much are you paying for accommodation?
2) En-suite or not?
3) Does the Uni accept CoPE/EPQ/General Studies?

I've moved there for Uni, where I'm from my local nightspot is either a town 6 miles away with a winebar, or a bigger town 10 miles away with bars and clubs - Lincoln is much better, more people, less aggro so far anyway, I've only been here for 3 weeks.

I'm living in the Junxion and am paying, I think, £89 a week for accomodation, en-suite in a flat of 5. For location it's amazing, just opposite the Engine Shed and 5 minutes walk to the High Street and the railway station. Pavillions are good for those who do sport as it's on the other side of campus but right next to all the pitches and sports facilities, as far as I know it's also en-suite and about £4 a week cheaper than Junxion - I'm paying extra for the location really. There's also Brayford Quay, but I haven't looked at that so can't comment

As for General Studies, for my course (Media Production) it was accepted, I have no idea whether it's the same for other courses or those other qualifications though.

I was born here so I'm afraid I can't help with the uni questions but I'm applying to Lincoln as one of my choices so would be happy to continue living here if that helps at all. Lincoln in general is ok. To me, it is quite small and compact but still lively and the uni is bang on in the centre. I think it perfect for people who are looking for a medium..not a big city and not peace and quiet either. My negatives of the city wouldn't really apply to you so I won't bother listing them but generally it is nice here!

For you as a newcomer to they city the honestly wouldn't apply to you

They are all personal reasons such as the area of Lincoln I am from and having grown up here, moved to other huge Cities and Countries and then returned, I'm just bored of the place and the same old faces and same clubs which play the same old music. I'd imagine most other people who have grown up in one place feels the same about their city. I'm just a bit of an adventurer and Lincolnshire is not a city for people who get itchy feet

Ooh, I've just applied to Media Production here, do you like the course? Was it competitive to get on to? I really like the course the most out of my other applied Unis, it's just the area it's in really. But the course looks really good.

So far I really like it yeah and there's the opportunity to study for a semester in America in second year, and the option of a placement year in third. It's in the top 10 in the country for Media Production I believe? I'm not sure how competitive it was, but my offer was 300 and I got 280 and got in, and I know people with lower who also got in.

If you've any questions about the course content and that sort of thing, PM me and I'll be happy to fill you in

I find the nightlife to be pretty good! every night tends to have some sort of different promotion to attract students, so for example ritzys (although is an absolute dump) is rammed on tuesdays but itll be the only place thats really all that busy so its always a good laugh.

the atmosphere on nights out tends to be decent aswell as most of the people out midweek are students, wayyy
