Taking a gap year myself but thinking of applying for Derby next year to do fashion.

Haven't been for an open day yet. Has anyone been? Is the uni good?

Just finished my first year there studying Marketing. Really friendly university. City is not too big or too small & I can say myself that I have really enjoyed my first year here.

I went to the open day, I loved the town.... I can't remember what it's called.

Nice area, but I only really went into the main hall with the shops and the restaurants.

What's the accomodation like?

Accommodation is standard really....

There are 4 sites based pretty much in the centre (about 10 minutes walk) & then one about 20 minutes away. Then you have accommodation in Buxton & Mickleover (I think.... ).

I believe the only site that offers on-suite however is Peak Court.

However, to answer your question.... yeah, accommodation is good.

I haven't been to the open days there (for obvious reasons lol, I'm 12,000 miles away ), but I will be attending Derby this September...just wondering if anyone could tell me what the student life is like there? I've been looking on the student union site but its somewhat superficial in its information so anything anyone could tell me would be great thanks!

Hello Leoni!
I have a question regarding the gym is it a very busy place? Are there any swimming pools near by?

Thanks,
Karl

There is a swimming pool near by, yes, i believe you can get a student discount there, but i'll have to check to be 100%.
The gym has a lot of members, but because it's open a lot, it'snever very full, which is great cos you get loads of choice over the machines! It's very reasonably priced too

Here's a link for you to get a better look.
Best wishes x
