Default Storm Hydrograph Help Needed!

How would the storm hydrograph differ for limestone and clay?

I am certain that the peak discharge for limestone would be lower and that the rising limb for clay would be steeper. But what about the descending limb?

Also, would there be more baseflow for limestone since for water would infiltrate as compared to clay?

Thanks

It's been a while since you posted and nobody's replied yet...maybe you should check out Coursework.Info, TSR's sister site. It has the largest library of essays in the UK.

They've got over 160,000+ essays, projects, assignments, coursework etc.. all written by GCSE, A Level and Uni students. You get access either by publishing some of your own work, or paying £4.99 for a month's access. Both ways give you unlimited access to all of the essays.

All their documents are submitted to Turnitin anti-plagiarism software, so it can't be misused, and the site’s used by hundreds of thousands of UK teachers and students.

Hopefully you'll find it useful

Yes to both of your first two points.

The descending limb for clay will be steeper - clay is impermeable (at least compared to limestone), so there will be no infiltration and more surface flow = much more rapid discharge than in limestone, where throughflow slows the discharge into channel.

Yes, there would be more baseflow for limestone. In its simplest form, baseflow is (the amount of) groundwater seepage into a stream channel. Since clay is impermeable, there will be hardly any baseflow compared to limestone.
