It's not racist in the sense that obviously no harm was meant.

It doesn't mean they have no right to be offended though. I strongly suspect most of the people in this topic have NO idea what it's like to feel you're being singled out based on your skin colour. Being singled out based on race (in circumstances like this) shouldn't be different to being singled out based on any other physical attribute. Unless it's something that you're not really comfortable with then i don't see why you'd find it offensive. People saying that it's different to be singled out based on their race are the ones making it an issue imo.

I don't think the pub receipt was racist. Would you take personal offence to it?

I see what you mean though. It was on the programme "how racist are you?" and some white people were saying "oh I'm fat/ I've got ginger hair" etc etc and that they had felt discrimination, but it's true that weight can be lost and hair can be dyed etc, but skin colour is skin colour, and you can never change it unless you have a skin disease.

I'm not saying racial abuse would be the same as abuse based on hair colour or whatever because there's more to it than the colour of the persons skin.

If it happened to me I would definitely have felt slighted, but I wouldn't have said anything as I would have felt it's too minor to mention and would have been 99% sure it wasn't ill-intentioned.

Well by any rate you wouldn't have gone to the media about it I hope
