i'd imagine it's pretty awful, and also irreversible so please make sure you're making the right choice - there are other options besides abortion, and if you really can't keep it there's always adoption.
and please learn from this and make sure you use protection so you dont end up in this situation again (i know you may have used it and just been unlucky)
good luck whatever you decide

If it makes you feel better, at eight weeks, it is still called an embryo. Additionally, one in five pregnancies do not make it to the ninth/ tenth week, and some die later on; so it is possible that the baby will never have lived. If the facts help.

Otherwise, I wish you luck.

I wish people would stop being nasty to the OP. How can they criticise when they don't know the circumstances she's in? And how can any of us who haven't been in the situation tell her what she should do?

The question's pretty much already been answered above, so all I'll say is good luck, whatever happens.

I pressume you could ask to make their correspondance with you via email, or your mobile to keep it private/personal and to avoid your parents getting involved. I'd pressume they have lots of cases like yours and they will respect your want to keep it private from your parent.

I've had two friends who had abortions a different stages, they seemed to have entirely different experiences as well. The one who had an abortion in the early stages said you had to just take some pills which were accompanied by the 'worst period of her life' (heavy, painful etc). The other one in later pregnancy went to a surgery and I just remember her describing a suction device they put 'up' her and which cleaned her out.

I don't think the videos should be biased, they should just show the facts, but surely it's good that your class were educated about the harsh reality of abortion? I mean, I'd prefer that girls saw what actually happens and decided they were against it than if they didn't know what the actual facts are and decided they were for it.
We saw a video like that in RS, it was American and it was graphic the teacher stopped it halfway through because one of the boys turned white and was crying. Am still for it though.

OP: I'm a guy and I think it's very brave. It's pretty early so I'm sure it won't be too bad but do it ASAP. You don't have to tell anyone else about it - it's your decision. I'd rather the girl didn't tell me and just went ahead and got the abortion, personally.

Well depends on you really!

From the physical point of view, it only pills and injections it seems. Though it's really painful indeed. This should help:
http://www.careconfidential.com/Stories/96.aspx

From the mental point of view, it's certainly disturbing. You may rethink your decision to abort for the rest of your life cause if anything you'll be questioning your self what if and what not, and whether you like it or not, the little 'miracle' inside you would have developed to become your little boy/girl.

Although you may want to hurry and forget about it, the more you hurry the more you may regret your decision in the future.

Please consider also the other option; i.e. To give birth and then find foster parents for you child. It's the best option in my opinion and it can save you a lot of emotional problems throughout the rest of your life. It's only 7 months physical distress you have to endure.

Anyway your are the mother and although it's not in your full right to perform an abortion it's you who have the full power. If anything please don't let whatever these pathetic pro-choice and pro-life posters have to say. It's something by far more important and don't let peer pressure get to you. It's your life, your baby and your choice. Do what you believe is right for both.

I'm sorry you have to go trough this but that's life.
Good luck!

It is brave.

Instead of going into denial and ending up bringing an unwanted child into this world, she has decided to take responsability for her actions and do something about it. Seriously, there are already too many people in the world and too many young lives ruined by ill-advised decisions to have babies far too young. If I was in the OPs position I would probably do the same thing, as I do not think it would be right for me to bring a child into the world at this point.

I agree there should be more education in schools on this topic. In fact, I think sex ed should be compulsory in private schools from whatever age is deemed appropriate (I won't pretend to know). I don't think you should be allowed to get away with not teaching things such as how to put on a condom, how to go on the pill, what your options are (in an unbiased way) if you are pregnant, where and how to get checked for STDs etc - too many people don't know these things. I'll be honest and say I would have to trust the guy as I have no idea ho a condom goes on...

I had an abortion not too long ago. At 8 weeks you are OK, your pregnancy is really very tiny at this point, it's basically a cell. If you take the pill, it will be painful and is just like having a miscarriage. Otherwise you can be put under general anaesthetic which is what I did, when you wake up you feel no different other then what feels like period pains and a bit of bleeding. Masses of luck to you.

This should not be a pro-life vs pro-choice debate.

Please try to keep posts helpful to the OP
