i've only had this lecturer 3 times and she knows no one elses name in the class but mine. i've never told her my name but she says it frequently in class say, if i answered a question.

i might have a been a bit bold in the first lesson, not sure.

anyway do you think she knows it cause shes watching me cause she thinks im like trouble.

SO WORRIED, and if i miss a lecture shes like where is she? to the entire class. other people miss them all the time.

lol calm down. Most of my lecturers/tutors know my name, but that's cause I'm one of the few that can be arsed to answer questions. Don't worry about it, but make sure your tutor recognises you more than anyone, because they're the ones who give you an academic reference for further study/employment.

What do you mean by being bold?

She may just remember that you were enthusiastic.

Erm, I really wouldn't read too much into this either way. The reason why she's finding your name easier to remember than others might well be that you happen to have the same name as her cat, or something random like that.

I'd say it's a good thing. Why would she think you were trouble? Generally I find lecturers take the time to get to know your name and what not if you show you are there to learn. If you take part they are bound to take more notice of you. Also, the more they know about you the better references they can lend you when you finish.

I'm on first name terms with all my lecturers both me to them and them to me. I wouldn't read anything into it.

Inb my department, there are only about 60 undergraduates in total. This means that all the lecturers know every student. I also serve on the Staff / Student Committee, so they all address me by my first name. All essays are marked anonymously though. However, some lecturers do allocate a proportion of the marks to oral contributions in seminars and tutorials, so it proably helps to get yourself noticed - for the right reasons, of course.

My teacher has a photocopy list with everyone's name with our photo's on it! So when ever he is lecturing he looks at that sheet and picks a name. Although he does tend to pick on the same people, ie me and my friend.

I would prefer to be addressed by my name instead of "Mr Nike", the appellation of choice of one of my lecturers, presumably an allusion to one of my sweaters.
