The OP was whining about complete strangers who do these things. Not their friends. Do you not think it's pathetic to whine on the internet about strangers doing things which don't affect you in any way? Be pissed off if your friends are ********* who do what you describe, but seriously, complete strangers? Go out and do whatever the heck you want, and let other people do the same. I don't see how anyone except the unreasonable could disagree there, but apparently you do.
Not at all, I agree with you on that. I was agreeing with OP because I used to hang around with people who were exactly like this, and concentrated more on getting hundreds of pictures than having a good time. I don't take much notice of strangers taking pictures like they did.

Without making it all about me I want to explain that I got annoyed in my previous post because I did ask them to take them off and not take any of me when I'm out, but they refused (they weren't just like this with me). Whenever I untagged myself I was re-tagged, and as a result of this I no longer speak to them or have a Facebook account.

i think it's fine if people want to go out and take photo's of themselves & their friends.
what i find a bit annoying is when people take photos of themselves in like their bedrooms on an ordinary day. (using a mirror) still it's up to them.

People are trying to show off a piece of their meaningless lives to make other folk's meaningless lives seem more meaningless. I don't see how it's any different doing that on Facebook or in reality. Same sh*t different format.

I know quite a few people who seem to be fixated with taking photos when they go out, purely to upload them to Facebook. Gets on my nerves... just have a good time when you're out.

Easily. We don't generally take photos every time we go out, as though going to pub/playing football/pricking about or whatever is some sort of event worthy of a photo. And the ones we do take aren't always uploaded to Facebook. Almost all the photos of me have been taken by the same few snap-happy girls who I barely talk to outside the occasional party. A lot of my friends don't even have Facebook - yes I know, how do they survive.

You're making some incorrect assumptions about me. My friends only take photos on special occasions (birthdays, fancy dress events, holidays in far away places etc.) and don't upload most photos taken. NO photos are taken if we're just hanging out (pubs, restaurants, parks etc.) and photos are very rarely taken when clubbing. Yes, pretty much all photos of me are taken by a small number of "snap-happy" girls. Most of my friends are guys and guys never seem to take photos. Several of my friends don't have facebook either.

Maybe you don't go to many birthdays or whatever...
