Default Law at uni of kent

How is the course there? (i've checked out the league tables)but what do you think of it? the course in general, the area, night life? how far isit from london? Would an international student enjoy it over there?

Your thoughts/opinions/comments would be appreciated

I don't know about Kent Uni specificaly, but Canterbury is a lovely city - cosmopolitan and (largely) friendly, it has a good nightlife and is well connected in terms of getting around town or up to London (about an hour away). Only my opinion, but a nice place to spend three years. Hope this helps, SP

I would disagree with the above poster, Canterbury isn't cosmopolitan, it's pretty much just old people and chavs. The nightlife is fairly terrible, mostly pubs, 2 or 3 clubs including the venue on campus, if you are a serious clubber you probably won't enjoy them (except maybe the odd night at Chill), they're okay for cheesy drunken nights out though.
As for distance from London, try nearer an hour and 45 minutes on the train - this will change though as the high speed link becomes introduced properly - still you will have to pay extra for that.

The university itself does have a lot of European students for some reason, I think they market themselves specifically as the 'European University' or something. So yes, I'm sure an international student would enjoy it there.

Unfortunately I don't actually know anyone studying law there, although I could probably list a friend studying any and every other subject. As a law student though, if you are looking at places in that sort of grade band, personally I would opt for somewhere like Sussex. Closer to London, Brighton is definitely more cosmopolitan and student friendly, better nightlife and just a generally more attractive campus. Personal opinion though, it's your call.

Oh! Thing is, im applyin to LSE, queen mary, city, southampton..im just confused with my last choice! i need a gd back up uni and kent seems cool from what ive heard that is! but sussex? and Brighton? tbh i hvnt even heard of them!

Im not really a serious clubber, tbh i never really go clubbing but im hoping that would change once i head for uni, so it doenst really matta about the night life and stuff cause i dont drink either (pubs) i just wan head to a place where ther r friendly people, nice campus and area..and gd lecturers!!

Even ive heard Kent has this whole european thing goin on, so i thought maybee that would be an advantage for international students too!
What do you think?

Ps.Thanks

Try these:

http://www.sussex.ac.uk/
http://www.visitbrighton.com/

I don't know, my boyfriend and a large handful of our friends go to Kent, so I am there A LOT. I just find it to be claustrophobic and a bit grey.

yeah, i was there last weekend haha.

grey as in dull, boring, all the buildings are grey! also if you go to the colleges like eliot and rutherford, you will know what i mean by claustrophobic and grey... they were designed by someone who also designed prisons (i've been told), i find them fairly depressing to be honest.

i would say there are a mix of students there, loads of different races, quite a bit oriental contingent, a good mix of international students but everyone ends up mixing with each other so you don't really notice it as much.

and no, he does computer science.
