Grade-wise: probably about the same.. but ASs were much harder, so more pleased by them.

I think it depnds on the person because I know some people are very specialist i.e. they are really good at one subject and not as good in others and therefore if they do subjects that are all very similar to that one subject they're likely to do well e.g. if you were really good at sciences at your a-level options were bio, chem and phys and maths then you're quite likely to get all as whereas some people are broader and just good at all subjects and thus would do better at gcse than a-level whereas specialist would do better at a-level than gcse.

I showed I could get the grades at A level, plus my personal statement was pretty good, I had alot of medical based work experience too.

I did get an email regarding my past education, the admissions guy asked me to phone him up and seemed alright with it lol

Much worse (DDN in the days before AS levels, compared to 10 decent GCSE's)

Didn't affect me much, though - 2:1 undergrad degree, studying an MA at the mo.

I got A*s in History and Maths at GCSE, and Us in History and Maths at AS... 'nuff said. The only subject I've always done consistently well in is English. Suffice to say, that's what I study at uni

Much better as AS, but I worked 10000x harder for them. Roll on A2!

I did considerably better at AS level than at GCSE (not done A2s yet) Combination of reasons this occured. Better school, preferred less subjects, and realised for AS levels I would actually have to sit down and do some work.

AS-levels I got 5 A,
I only got 3 A*s at GCSE well I didn't work for my GCSEs but it's weird because I only improved slightly in terms of work ethics and still managed to get good grades

In GCSE I got AA in English but got a AD which resulted in a C in AS. However, I got A's in 3 other subjects I'd never done before.

Pisstake but oh well, gotta work hard for the resit!
