Default hsbc online application is frustrating

Hey guys,
I need some help with the hsbc online application for first year internships:

It is possible to upload a cv, however at the bottom of the page in the cv field, all the line are totally messed up. Moreover it is written to remove all dates, age and years from the cv. Does that mean that I have to remove the years when i got my awards, or the dates i worked for a company?

thanks.

Haven't seen the website, but it is becoming more common for companies to ask you to submit all application details without dates. It prevents accusations of age discrimination. It is standard nowadays not to put your date of birth in CVs, the complete removal of all date material is just an extension of this.

I don't know, I'm not going to set up a profile myself to see. I'm not 100% clear on what isn't working for you. If you are uploading a CV and are then able to see it, and it has the dates removed, then that suggests they are using date removal software. If that messes up your formatting, then you can try a format that doesn't have dates to upload. But if they are using a software programme to manage your CV, presumably they don't care about your formatting anyway, just the content.

Have a good look at the website, if they don't explicitly say don't put in dates (and I can't see anywhere they do, on a quick poke around the website) then you can leave the dates in, as that is still the norm.

"Please ensure that you remove any dates/years/age from your submission. *"

erm, the uploading is working alright, but i am confused with removal of "any dates/years/age"

That would seem clear then, remove any dates, years and ages from what you send them. They seem to be operating an age blind process. As I said earlier, it's not unheard of and is becoming more common.

Remove all dates, no mention of the dates you went to school, the dates you worked, your date of birth, no dates at all. That's what I'd read into

"Please ensure that you remove any dates/years/age from your submission. *"

As I say, it's unusual but not unheard of. Are there any other boxes on the application form when they ask for dates?

Well failing anyone else coming along with the answer, I guess you are going to have to either go with your instincts or wait until Monday and email someone at HSBC for an answer.

Oh and HSBC app fustrating. Let me know when you do CS. Sometimes the job appears in search, sometimes it doesnt.

Dont quote me - but it would be simply ridiculous to remove dates of employment experience. If you have internships/placements at banks or even experience in McDonalds, the dates are essential.

DoB - remove it.

A-Level etc dates - removing is irrelevant. If they choose to follow this up, they will find the dates out anyway.

Either way let me assure you - they are FAR more interested in what you say than the dates you provide. They will not filter out a good application based on this - it is only to cover their backs.

Proof: I made an application to the HSBC grad scheme. Dates for work / exams were included. I got a telephone interview and now have the assesment centre.

You have more to worry about at the moment than pondering over the dates. This is not what they will make choices based on.

Good luck!
D
