ur abs are like any other muscle except they are like the heart as in theyre in use 24 hours a day
the best way to train is to train like any other muscle ie 10-20 reps
do composite excersices and may i suggest starting strenght with ab workout is a great ab excercise
make sure you have a calorie deficit of 500 calories and if you do you will lose fat

You're right they aren't really a abdomen work out but they work your back more than your arms really.

I did circuits of
30 crunches
2 mins of plank, and then straight into 25 press-ups (your abs will be engaged for 2.5mins)
I did 5 reps, 5 times a week.

I do about 10 minutes cardio everytime I go and do various ab excercies but nothing! My friend has a strong six pack and I honestly have no idea how he does it with the amount of rubbish he eats, he must have a very high metoblasim? Anyways what I want to know is how can I get a six pack? A workout/program would be ace!

Thanks in advance.

Visible abs, you have to drop below the 10% - 8% region. I consider it unhealthy especially when it comes to strict diet. Mental and yet physical strength. Abs are not as easy to attain, 80% has to watched through your diet.

Basically your abs are already there the problem you're having is getting them to show, this is to be done by getting your body fat to be around 10% the only way you'll get that to happen is to eat healthy balanced diet, and exercise more, with good cardio, something that gets your heart-rate up, which could be walking (not dawdling though) cycling, running swimming, skipping, try and do about an hour of exercise a day and you should be seeing results. You've probably been told this a million times but seriously those ******** abdumintor 7000 things you see on television that promise six packs abs in 10 days or w/e do sweet feck all.
Seriously the people i know who have six packs have told me that they really dont do a lot of ab work to get there six pack they just said that they played football, ran did lots of cardio etc, and it just happened.

If you do the ab exercise's and have a flabby belly whats going to happen is you'll lose a few inches off the belly and then u start growing abs underneath it and it will give the appearance that your stomach is actually fatter than it is. But you should still do ab exercises as working out your core is a must imo. Best things i found to do are things like crunches, bicycles and the plank. Good form on these is a must, theres lots of places you can look on the interweb to look up good form on these.

Pm me if you need more help =]
