Dont do it! I know your probebly worried and thinking of ways to fit in but honestly i wouldnt worry. when i go to uni i cant wait to hear different accents hearing an american accent would be great as i dont know any americans and im sure that wil be the same for loads of people so dont worry about people will love your accent

It also depends which accent you're thinking of using...if it's all

Uchhhh ayye the nooooo be aware that only Mel gibson (who isn't scottish) a few stereotypes and a small number of people quite far north tend to talk like that over here. The Edinburgh accent is boring and I'm not a fan. Glasgow has quite a few accents which vary between highly offensive to the ears (and should make you wary of the speaker) through to some of the more subtle scottish accents you may have heard on TV. Largely depends on the socioeconomic group (sad to say).....

Anyway if you're going to fake an accent why not even try a posh english accent ;-)

As regards american accents - well I'd never want one, there are one or two are nice for a change but they eventually grate on me a bit. Not as bad as liverpudian accent and some of the yorkshire ones take the biscuit.....I should stop before I offend everyone, right? ;-)
