Yeah I have actually. Maybe if you read up a little about the Afghan culture then you would have a clearer understanding of how the people think/behave. You would be pleasantly suprised to find that many Afghans don't want us to leave!

To add weight to that so have I, starting from the start of the conflict. The difference in living standards has steadly improved with conditions in the north of the country with nato forces present in greater numbers showing a marked improvement over the south. Troops do have a positive impact and when dealing with villiage leaders and local elders people want the same as everyone else in the world; insomuch as they want security to live their lives in their own way. The NATO troops and ISAF provide this for them, the Taliban do not. It will be a long road but the continued presence and then gradual withdrawal will take years not months in order to leave Afghanistan with a stablity that will endure.

Sorry how is it wasting your time? And the reasons they are there have very kindly been pointed out by several people now.

"This" sod off and go make some anti-war thread somewhere relevant on the forums.

In my opinion, combat 95 is not the smartest of uniforms and certainly is not "smart evening wear".

If a bar has a dress code then so be it. Just like on base there's very few occasions you'd get away with wearing day time or working rig in the mess bar in the evening.

Big deal made over nothing as per usual.

Civilians who are under threat from the taliban. I think you should consider the views made by the other people in this thread and have a real think.

NI is a great example. It happened on our own soil. Clearly, the safety given to civilians by the british armed forces was appreciated.

Its not just soldiers lining the streets with rifles, but as wizz pointed out, medics, doctors, construction teams, training the afgahan police and army. If more support comes from other countries and the new large input by the US, then this campaign can be successful and the results can already be seen. Its not a waste of time.

On the subject of the OP, at first I though they should have been let in, but at the end of the day, if they chose to have certain rules they can.

If a club/pub decides to let soldiers etc in, thats will boost their own reputation. However, some people, as we can see, sadly are ignorant in respect to the operation in Afgahnistan and I recommend a rethink and research to reconsider your viewpoint which is indeed, narrow.

I applaud your point of view and your drive to educate, however my original post was not anti-forces and should you happen to see what other posts I have made on TSR; I think you will find that my viewpoint might be slightly broader than you may have first thought.
