Default First Choice?/interview Help

I'm looking to study a BA Fine Art, entry 2010, i am currently on a foundation course and am really interested in studying at a London university, particularly Saint Martins, Wimbledon or Slade. I've heard though that the London universities are highly unlikely to give an interview unless you put them as first choice, is this true, is it better to just apply to one?? Also what's the ratios of the amount of of people on the courses?

Also, i wanted to know more about the interviews...what sort of things do they ask? Nice experience? Also is it helpful to do any reading beforehand etc etc.

Help is much appreciated!

Thanks x

The universities you choose are put in alphabetical order by UCAS so you can't rank them in order of preference.

Yeh i thought this but surely they can't interview everyone who applied to them?? Also it depends a lot on your portfolio.

They won't interview everyone who applied - they will rank applicants based on their applications (relevant education/ training / experience, personal statement, and reference) and then interview / review the portfolios of the highest ranked applicants.

There's no sense in applying to just one course as they are incredibly oversubscribed and you will most likely be left without an offer.

While I was applying I also heard that certain uni's only interview applicants who have a course at the uni as their first choice... but some also had courses applicable as either route a or route b (which no longer applies since route b finished for this years' applicants - i.e. my lot) I applied to Camberwell via route b, first choice - got and interview and then found out that I could have applied to LCC's Photography course via route a and could have got an interview there, it was slightly confusing - but now there is no route b I think it's a case of first choice priority or something, then again I wouldn't know for sure

The courses at UAL in particular are generally very popular, it would make sense if they only interviewed those applicants with their courses as their first choice in UCAS... don't know about anywhere else.
