Hi guys,
I have been predicted AAC (Geography, Sociology and Maths respectively) and I attained ACC (Geography, Sociology and Maths respectively) for AS. The problem is that I have had a very bad thing happen in my family about 5 weeks ago and that has caused to me to be entirely responsible for my younger brother and sister.

Now I havent finished off my personal statement yet and plan to send my application off by the end of this week but I am facing 2 major confusions on this:

1) Would it be sensible to apply to uni's who are asking for ABB with AAC? (Im pretty confident that I can get AAB but my maths teacher wont predicte me a B despite being so close to B and the fact that I'm going to retake a module!)

2)Which universities, preferably in London otherwise my siblings will be taken into care...
Well the situation there is that some of my friends are telling me to take a gap year if I dont get into the uni of my choice rather then settle for they crappy ones. Also my younger sister wants to move abroad as she is now 16 after completing her GCSEs. So if I go to a distant uni and my sister leaves the country, we loose the house and my brother either goes into care or he might have to move in with my dad!

The unis I am considering are: KCL, Queen Mary, Leeds (if I can persuade my sister to stay) umm Im not sure where else to apply...

Bump.

I think you should mention why you didn't get the grades you wanted at AS in a sentence just so that the unis would know that you didn't just slack off.
IF you don't get an offer from unis you don't really like....
Uni is meant to broaden your future career options and going to a crap uni won't do any help to pay off debt or earn lots of money... you'll have to spend 3-4 years there and it would be a waste of time if you're just going to get rubbish teaching or aren't going to enjoy it. Fees are the same for different unis anyway, and loads of people take gap years to get better grades and you would have an advantage if you get say AAA in the retake year and take up a work experience related to the field. Then you can end up going to an awesome uni... I don't see why you would want to go to a rubbish uni just because you didn't make it the first time round...

talk to your head of sixth form or someone like that because i think they can add a bit on to your application saying that there are extenuting circumstances in your references bit. Or if you decide on one specifically you want then definitely ring up their admissions office and tell them then they will usually give you a lower offer.
