Ok, so I take it from that page that psychology doesn't interview. My questions weren't about the open days themselves but about interviews and whether they would be conducted at open days.

That page is bit wrong because I had an interview even though I'd already got an offer. If you are having an interview it will be on one of the School's open days (not a university open day). You can choose which day you go on.

Hey,

I just got an offer from Bangor but the email that I got - which I know others have received - confused me a little:

You will notice that we have asked for more UCAS tariff points than we normally advertise. This is in recognition of the high number of points you have been predicted, and as we have a number of excellence scholarships available (which have normally been awarded to applicants with higher offers, such as the one you have received), we would like to encourage you to achieve your outstanding potential, and gain marks that truly reflect your ability. Your offer will include any AS points you may have already achieved (excluding Key Skills and General Studies). Please note that the School has mechanisms in place to ensure that, when A level results are published, you are in no way disadvantaged by having received a higher than normal offer.

On UCAS it says that I am being offered a place at 360 points, but that is nearly a whole 100 points more than I am expected to get.

Does it mean that I won't get in if I don't get 360?

places are competitive and bangor usually lower the grade boundaries. I know people who had really really high offers but they achieved lower than that and were still accepted.

Don't fret about it, all will be ok.

Also did you by any chance apply to get the £5,000 scholarships through the university because this may be another reason why you've been offered a place with such a high ucas points requirement.

I didn't but how do you do that and do you have to firm them (or intend to)?

to get the £5,000 sponsorship/brsary you need to complete a test but it involved having to contact the admissions people though the best thing you can do is read this page: http://www.bangor.ac.uk/studentfinan...id=&subid=5818

i'm still waiting for my offer from Aber

If I get one, Aber will be my firm choice, cause I loved the place, but i was expecting Chester to give me an offer of around 220, which is what UCAS said their standard offer is, but instead they offered 260

Now I have 3 offers for 260 points from my backups, and I was just going to pick whichever was lowest, so I actually have to compare Bangor and Chester

Sucks Although if i go to Chester I get a free pass to Chester zoo, and Bangor has the opportunity for a field trip to Florida

I've got an offer from Bangor on track the 16th this month, but they have not sent me any letter or mail, do they usually do that or is this normal?
Anyone who knows? I'm just wondering to make sure that nothing is wrong

I think they usually send a letter of some sort. I wouldn't worry though, soon they will start sending you loads of letters, I think I had about 5 from them in the end - "Here's an offer!" "Thanks for putting us as one of your choices!" "Here's some information packs!" "Good luck in your exams!".
