Default Failing a presentation because of speaking too fast?

Do tutors mark you down for speaking too fast for an individual or group presentation assignment?

If it's so fast that no one can hear or understand you then yes they will mark you down.

Why don't you try just relaxing and maintaining control of your presentation instead of worrying about failing because of your anxiety?

Yes, the idea behind the presentation is to present your work/research/etc in a clear, concise and professional manner - Part of this is by not speaking too fast. If you do speak to fast (in order to fit all the information in) it means that you didn't plan the presentation well enough.

In my experience, a lot of people speak too fast because they are nervous - if you suffer from nerves when presenting, i'd suggest that you train yourself to get over it (practise in front of the mirror, family, and friends).

Yea, you may very well lose marks for speaking too fast - but on the bright-side, lecturers can often be quite forgiving, and if you are able to demonstrate that you did the research well, and prepared well, you are unlikely to lose too many marks for speaking too fast.

If they can't hear what you are saying because of speaking too fast, would they ask you to repeat yourself?

It has been answered and I have helped solve the problem your question has arisen from.

Take my advice.

Id love to be able to slow my speech down.
Its been one of my main problems for as long as ive lived.
Speaking really fast isn't a bad thing in itself (i love how Vince Vaughn talks for example) but my mouth just isn't able to make the words come out clear when talking fast.
If I really concentrate and am relaxed, i can sometimes slow myself down, but it still feels very forced and 'false'.
I mean, you'd naturally revert to speaking really fast in a high stress situation. Imagine ringing the police after being hekd at gunpoint, your heart racing, and trying to concentrate on speaking really slow, lol

Would you be asked to repeat yourself if they can't hear what you are saying if you were speaking too fast? Because that happened to me when I was at college.

If it was to the point of incoherency, then yes, I'd imagine they would. One of the first things people do when they're nervous is unconsciously speed up a little, so it would be rather unreasonable for them to penalise you (potentially rather severely if they can't actually understand you) without even pointing it out.

Would you also get marked down for asking the assessor to repeat a question again if you didn't hear what they were asking?
