Government & Politics or...
Reconsidering my A-Level choices as I don't know what is "respected" by universities or what I'd enjoy doing. Currently I have:
English Literature
History
Economics
The 4th I will drop at A2, currently I have chosen Government & Politics, but I'm unsure about it, as I don't know how well regarded it is by top universities, although I'm interested in politics. I'm strongly leaning towards Geography, as this thread places it at the top, but I don't know how interesting it is. -
Re: Government & Politics or...
Geography is pretty damn funky. I understand that you want to get in the 'top' universities, but if your dropping the subject after AS, I doubt that the decision you make will be the deciding factor in your application.
There's nothing wrong with Government & Politics, as far as I'm aware. -
Re: Government & Politics or...This is the first I've heard of that, can you give an example of unis that do this?(Original post by 03109mj)
It depends on what you want to do in Uni really, sometimes they tend to tell you not to take certain subjects depending on the course you want to take..Last edited by Ninja Student; 26-04-2010 at 23:41. -

I'm not exactly sure which Unis do that, but I've been told that for example if you want to study law it's best not to take it as an A level, apparently they prefer if you have a fresh start and not learn any 'bad habbits'. I don't know is that's the case with all the subjects though, you'd have to look and ask around

Re: Government & Politics or...Oh, right. I've heard that about the law alevel before, and I think you're right, there are more alevels like this.(Original post by 03109mj)

Re: Government & Politics or...
I took Government and Politics, and I really enjoyed it.
Well, only A2, because we did American politics and it was last year, so during the U.S election and it was super exciting. On the day Obama won, my teacher came into class with loadsa food and we made a massive table and sat around eating, reading the papers and discussing.
It was my favourite class.
