Ideally I would like the average PPE points for students at each uni. But I don't have that data. Instead I have to average the seperate figures for Philisophy, Politics and Economics.

Here is the link to TAPPELT 2009:
http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/showthread.php?t=870981

As Warwick now has both a higher offer (AAAb c.f. AAA-AAB) and a higher tariff average (482 c.f. 478) it is now above Durham.

Here is the link to the spreadsheet behind TAPPELT:
http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=rlJA2q_8vQDCwOE_aJ2qV_w&output=html

Above X means the uni was in Extra in 2009 for PPE.
Above XC means the uni was in Extra in 2009 and in clearing in 2008 for PPE.

But given how many PPE courses were in Extra in 2009 I don't think in general it is that hard to get offers on typical PPE courses.

That's surprising, which unis had unused places?

Gosh - the average UCAS points for Oxford are so high! That works out that the average person has at least for As and an extra AS??? I certainly haven't got that!

Well I should point out that the TAPPELt figures are the averages of the Econ, Phliisophy and Politics figures from the newspaper league tables, rather than from specifically from the PPE course. But I don't expect them to be significantly different:
i) the figures are very similar across all 3 subjects (538,532,538)
ii) PPE is a very figular popular course at Oxford so I expect PPE students to make up a large proportion of the students represented in each subject figure.

But yes 540 points is AAAAa and 520 points is AAAAb. So your conversion is correct. What Tariff point qualifications do you have?

I'm doing 4A2s, but did the same four for AS. 4As would be 480 points? With the new A*s hopefully the points will be higher (if I manage to get any!), but of course where the stats have come from you couldn't get A*s! So I guess that's less than the average.

However, perhaps including the IB and foreign qualifications brought the tariff up? I know that say 38 points gives you many more UCAS points than three As...

Oh well, I got an offer so shouldn't complain! Am just a bit curious!

UCAS average are only UK students. And only a very low % will have done IB.

all it is that most of your cohort will have done a 5th AS-level and you did not. I think you will cope...

CHRIST that UCAS tariff for Oxford is high. I refuse to accept that an 'average' is that high - that would mean there are people entering with even higher!
Well I'm screwed if its true then...

Also annoyed about the Maths necessity for Durham. Anyone have any comments on how important maths is at some of the others?
Long and short of it is I didn't know I wanted to do PPE back when I was picking A-levels so I didn't take maths. Regret it now, but I really hope it won't now get in the way of me doing what I want to do.

And Lancaster or Queen's as a lower option?

I didn't do maths, as you can see from my ucas (in sig) universities were far from forgiving. I'd say apply ppe at Oxford and pol/phil everywhere else
