Day in the life of a Law stduent/Do you enjoy it?
Hi!!
I'm a prospective law student and I would just like to get a better idea of what studying law is like (compared to A Levels). Is there a good social life? Do you enjoy the course?
I get a really mixed idea from people who aren't actually doing Law so I would really appreciate it if I could have a first-hand account...
Thanks so much!! I'm deciding which A Level to drop and what to focus on any info you could provide would help immensely

Re: Day in the life of a Law stduent/Do you enjoy it?
You can have a social life, but you'll manage that only if you stick to hours of 9-5 as in a working day, but with a mix of tutorials/lectures and then working on your own in that time.
The workload is heavy, research can take up some time and the reading will make your brain hurt, so you need to put in regular hours to keep on top of everything and not make things more difficult for yourself. As with anything, the more you put in, the more you get out. If you spend time covering basics so you can afford to get into the nitty-gritty of the law, you will doubtless find the course more satisfying and fulfilling. Plus you should gain the higher marks by doing that. -

I love it. My biggest regret though is not changing my course while I was an undergraduate and transfering onto law. So I had to take the GDL instead. It's very hard work, but I enjoy to put the work in, because I find it so interesting. I really enjoy the course and I have time for a job as well, so I'm sure you could substitute the job for a social life and be fine!

Funnily enough, I'm enjoying it more now I'm revising.
I'm a first year UG and the year has been hard. The amount of reading is huge, more than I've ever needed to do for all my ALevels combined, and I took 4 intense ones.
Given that its the first year, I haven't put much effort it, but decided about three weeks ago to begin revising (my first exam is June 2nd). I'm ploughing through 800+ page textbooks that are literally walls of text, but finding that I quite enjoy it, as everything over the year is clicking.
I'm supplementing everything I read in the textbook with information I can find online.
Like others have said, the more you put in, the more you get out.
