I'm slightly confused: Aston says not to buy any of the books before your first lecture because you will not need many - which is easy to work out what you do need for your course - but why bother giving the list?

Anyway, my Dad's Girlfriend's Son studied marketing so I'm going to find out from him if he has the marketing textbook mentioned.

I assume they mean if you can borrow any of them, do, and get a head start, but don't buy any. I'm going to look in the library but I'm not hopeful for anything other than the Excel books.

If people do want to start buying books than check the list against the books i'm selling

I got a list by email. It's a preliminary one so I'd assume more books would be mentioned once the course starts that we have to buy. I don't have an accommodation offer yet though - I'd rather that than a reading list!

My advice would be not to buy anything until you're a week (or a few!) in and you know what you need to use for the modules and from those books, which you can't get from the library easily.

The ones you need and can't borrow easily are the ones to think about buying, even then don't buy them new (unless it's really important to have the most recent edition).... 2nd/final years, ebay, amazon market place etc are your friends!

There are also a few websites you'll get a login for once you're at Aston which have online versions of a lot of books so you never need to buy them, just print the pages you want!

Found most of them online, as the list says though, they're expensive. Couldn't find the Business Computing Primer though, I guess it is to do with the age. I can't remember if there were others I couldn't find.

Only about 2 of the books are the correct editions and titles for this year. I should know, I'm also trying to sell my books.

I've taken a look at the provisional reading list which I suspect is unlikely to change. Also I checked out those buy back sites, for most books they either didn't offer anything or if they did it was like £1. Some books were worth like £10 quid though.
