I'm bringing a bike this year. You will always fit in as about 30-40% of students seem to cycle to lectures. Loads of bike sheds/racks all over campus and by halls as well.

Can go for bike rides along the canal too! So yeah if you can bring one, I would.

I ran two bikes for all but my first year.
    - One (my old hardrock) for getting to campus from my house (golden triangle area, and alan moss rd)
    - The other, a newer, midspec Rockhopper, for recreational use and weekend riding.

Certainly i found the 'campus bike' make i could get to lectures in 7 minutes not 20, and i wasnt damaging, wearing out, and having stollen my nice bike.

Theres no much single track locally and its all flat, but theres some, and cannocks not far if you have a car (doable by train, for the keen)

I'm taking a bike, but contemplating whether to take my good bike or buy a really sh1t one. I know thieves target Universites to steal bikes- but Loughborough seems pretty secure in this respect? Thoughts..

Should be okay to take the good one. So long as you bring a good D lock and leave it in the sheds. I'm bringing a good one.
