In a bit of a pickle. Advice would be awesome...
Alright so i'm in my gap year, and I originally wanted to apply to

-Warwick for Law with Business (AAB)
-Kingston for Law with Business (BBB)
    -Manchester for Business Management (ABB)
    -Coventry for Business Management (BCC)
    - Another uni for Business Management

I flopepd my A Levels, had a prediction of A*AB and got ACC.

I've got mitigating circumstances which the school don't know about, but which my doctor/counsellor could support easily (this problems been affecting me for 1 and a bits year), if I have to tell the school about it I will I suppose.

I really wanted a shot at Warwick, and am resitting some exams this Jan aswell as taking a fast track a level.

My friend told me to go ahead and apply for Warwick via the AWARDS scheme.

Whats my shot at Warwick/Manchester going to be like?
Is it worth applying for Warwick (part of me thinks i'm going to get auto rejected) and my GCSE's were average few A's, majority B's.

    Honest opinions please..

If not is there any way to get into Law as a Graduate after taking say Business Management?

    Thanks

Tl;DR: Got ACC at A2, gap year, mitigating circumstances with evidence and support, Warwick - Business and Law (AABc). Should I go for it?

Yes. If you have mitigating circumstances, it's not your fault. I have mitigating circumstances for my GCSEs, so I'm hoping it won't be a problem.

    Good Luck.

Yeah, obviously inform them about your resits, and your mitigating circumstances and I think they should be fairly lenient.

Hope it all goes well for you

Bear in mind that Warwick is now AAA, and they will still expect that off you regardless of any mitigating circumstances.

I have mitigating circumstances for my GCSEs, but hope my A-Levels will make up for it.

Not to rain on your parade, but >>

The deadline for submitting your mitigation and documentary evidence is within seven days after your last examination, seven days after the submission deadline for dissertations (for MA/MSc students). Please note that it will take three working days to process any mitigation received. We may not be able to pass information to the Sub-Board of Examiners after this deadline, and we will not accept any mitigation after the Sub-Board of Examiners for your programme has met.
What I was told when I did my A levels is that if you don't tell them before the exam they will just say that you're making excuses. If you're able to get something in writing from a doctor/counsellor it may be different (it won't affect your grades, but the uni might want to know), but don't count on it.

Ill informed much? my friend applied to Warwick via the awards scheme for 2010 entry that the OP mentioned.

Read up about it, there is no deadline..
    http://www2.warwick.ac.uk/study/unde.../apply/awards/

You submit it along with your UCAS app...

Also how is it "excuses" if the OP says that they have evidence??

    Fail.

OP go for it! Yeah its gonna be hard but you get 5 choices for a reason, and you never know how it will go.

Sorry to rain on your parade but your quoted piece is for current students studying at Warwick, I emailed Warwick and they told me about the AWARDs scheme.

Its not excuses either, its a problem thats been going on for a while 1 year +, I have documented proof aswell, and have the support and backing of my doctor/couns if required.

Only reason I haven't told my school is because my HOY is a bitch.

I don't mind if your saying don't go for it, but quoting me a load of bull doesn't really help, thats all.

Yeah? but She got ACC, that aint close to being ABB. She's not retaking either, so why would Warwick take her, when she's got ACC cashed in. I don't see why she should expect a offer from Warwick, when she hasn't got and won't be getting the neccessary grades.

The Awards application is usually for mitigating circumstances during AS level or GCSEs. Not A2 when her grades aren't going to improve.

Are you telling me Warwick don't take people when they've got mitigating circumstances?

Its ACC not DDD..and this is with circumstances..

When someone I know had mitigating circumstances, repeated their A2 year, yes A2 year and got an offer from Warwick for languages.

Your not serious, hope don't hate, the OP could retake and could potentially boost his/her grades up to AAB or even A*AB, if they work hard, get a good reference with good predictions for the retakes and if they have a smashing PS.

I aplogise. I never realised the OP was actually planning to retake some modules.

I don't think it's right to call me a 'hater' when the outcome of her application will have no bearing whatsoever on my life. You don't even know how serious her circumstances are. The amount of people who are now playing the 'extenuating circumstances card' is suspicious.

My GCSEs were disrupted by some extremely serious incidents, but, i'm not planning on playing that card, unless it's neccessary.

I didn't say that it was making excuses, I said that it can seem like that to the admissions staff.

And as I said afterwards, I was told when I was doing my A levels that if you had mitigating circumstances you had to inform the school so they could tell the exam board and uni as soon as possible. EDIT: Fair point about my quote, didn't read it fully/from the wrong place

I wasn't actually saying don't go for it, since its only 1 place on your UCAS form, and possibly email Manchester to see if they have a similar scheme in place.
