I'm going to Teesside University this September just wondering if any locals or current students could name (or shame) some bars and clubs. I'm good for anything music style that is up-to-date really.

A few I've noticed so far from googling are:

The Arena
Lava Ignite
Empire

Some indie/rock/alternative/emo/popular kind of places would be awesome. (I like my Enter Shikari dosage)

I'm also going in September, I heard Empire is the place to be on a Saturday haha. The students union is supposed to be one of the best in the country too.

Mondays - Aruba , Wednesdays - Onyx, Fridays - The Hub (Student Union) Saturdays - Empire.

Teesside is great btw

Walkabout <- some people like it... i wasn't that impressed

Google them and have a little research.

saturday empire
thursdays either empire or arena

Thursdays are a good night, either skint at arena or feet first at empire, I prefer skint though

From what you say about your music taste, here's the best places.
I'm not sure about Uni events and such as it's my first year so I'll leave them out.

Monday - There's not really much at all. The Crown has areally cheap night if you get yourself a Yellowcard. Used to be really popular, haven't been in month.
Tuesday - Again, not much. Gay night at The Crown is a lot of fun if you don't mind the scene. Although they have Mixtape at the Keys down Linthorpe Road, nice and Indie.
Wednesday - Bad Medicine, which is at Spencleys, and moves up to Secrets around 11. Strippers and super cheaper drinks. £1.49/£1.89(after 11) for JD & Coke, Jagerbomb and other. Dani is a great DJ and plays nearly any request.
Thursday - Overdrive at the Crown for Rock. Feet First at Empire (new night, not been yet, does foam parties and stuff) and Skint at the Arena has a few rooms playing alternative/indie and others.
Friday - Uncle Alberts for pre Sumo Drinks. Then Sumo at the Cornerhouse, 3 rooms, Rock/metal, Indie/Alt and then the last room usually changes each week, sometimes its DnB, others it can be Pop Punk sesh.
Saturdays - Been a while for me, but the Empire is your best bet here. There's loads of rooms, easy to get lost. Not the cheapest place though. There's a new night starting soon Punk/Rock/Alt/Ska type of thing. I've looked around and not sure where exactly it will be. Cornerhouse is taken up by Satur-gay.
Sunday - No boody idea.

Anywhere down Southfield Road was good when I was in boro, there's plenty down there. The Empire is probably the biggest club in town.
