Sade's Freshers Blog.
Name: Sade
Age: Just turned 19
University: The university of Lincoln
Course: Architecture (BA)
I spent a huge amount of time reading through all the Freshers blogs from last year, excited that soon it'd be my turn to write about my experiences so i hope you guys enjoy reading this as much as i'll enjoy writing it
Two Days till i move out.
I am nowhere near finished packing! I've packed all my cutlery, utensils, pots, pans, bed covers and crockery but i havent finished packing my clothes, simply because im taking way too much! I'm hoping 3 suitcases and about 3 odd bags should do the trick! I'm not very excited about moving out as im having to rent private accomodation with clubeasy as Lincoln sucks with providing first years with halls. Im staying in a house of 4, me being the 5th person and im hoping my flatmates are freshers too or else i'll be quite sad
I don't know how i feel about leaving my family. I went to boarding school for a few years so i know what it feels like. I mean i'll miss them but i doubt i'll be crying on the phone to them every day. I'll miss my mothers cooking thats for sure! Im quite self sufficient in the culinary department and im hoping my flatmates are too! I dont want to end up being the one who has to cook all the time.
I'll miss my friends too, i doubt i'll see them before i'm off on Saturday but i guess i'll see them at Christmas time.
In all my excitement i completely forgot about the course! I've heard so many horror stories about how difficult Architecture is and to tell the truth yes im a little phased by it all but im guessing timekeeping and getting work done at the right time was probably and issue for those telling the horror stories. I know this year is going to be tough but i intend to stick it out no matter how bad it gets, as they say "If life gives you lemons, You make yummy lemonade!"

D-day i guess?
It's nearly 2am. Which means? IM MOVING OUT TODAY WAHEY!
Yesterday was so long! I had to finish packing, go out to dinner and manage to do two comissioned portraits!
I did all in the end!
I went to dinner with a friend and her mum as her mum had been my babysitter since year 8
We went to a lovely chinese buffet in Hatfield and talked about past, present and future, particularly mine. It was so much fun! I'm actually still feeling a bit sickish from taking the "Eat as much as you like" thing too far
I'm not quite sure how i feel. There are no butterflies in my stomach, no anticipation, nothing... I wonder why? I mean im excited to start the course and all but i guess i dont want to be an adult at the same time...
I'm up at 6am and we're hitting the road at 7.30 sharp so i can be prompt in picking up my flat keys and hopefully being the first person there! Gahhhh im so worried that i'll have and insane lunatic or something as a house mate
That would suck so hard. I hope they're clean and considerate and aren't complete binge drinkers as i dont fancy cleaning up other peoples vomit.
I really need to sleep as i have such a long day ahead of me! Good Luck fellow freshers!

J'arrive!
Im here guys! Um the house was a filthy tip when i arrived. Mouldy plates in the sink, stinky clothes on the floors, just generally rank because one of my flatmates had been living there for 2 months.. He's really nice though so i suppose i'll have to break it to him nicely that his muck is unnaceptable.
The city itself is pretty. I live just behind the main shopping high street so it works out great for me. The people are very friendly bless em'.
I didnt go out yesterday night
because i dont know any freshers. Instead i had a massive skype sesh with all my friends which was lovely. Right now its just me and two guys but when the other girl moves in hopefully itll balance out

I don't even know what day it is!
I'm actually having a pretty good time now! I have a new flatmate who is fortunately a fresher like me! My new flatmate who is absolutely awesome invited me to his media project screening down at the university bar, i said yes, happy to leave the house and happy to have made friends with my flat mate. The screening was so much fun! Some of the short films were hilarious others more serious but all based on the sentence “Fish out of water” Referring to us freshers. After the films we headed downstairs and my flatmate met one of his friends so we joined them at a table and got chatting. They were all so lovely and we exchanged numbers. There was a free gig by Gideon Conn who is an absolutely amazing performer (If you havent heard of his music, check him out. Its well worth it) His music was an eclectic fusion of Jazz, indie and beastie boy style hip hop all blended to perfection
. All in all a fantabulous day apart from my tongue swelling much to my housemates amusement! He keeps cracking up whenever i talk (I sound like that thing from the goonies you know, “Hey you guys” Remember?)

I am!
So, there's a guy who's been living there for two months? Is he a second year?
Your location seems pretty good, although missing out on halls sucks!
Yeah, i found out he's actually in college! Very confusing, he's so sweet though. We all had a nice chat and watched family guy. Plus the house is clean now wahey!

Thursday.
I've found that a little bit of makeup and some nice heels makes it easier to make friends
I went down to the uni bar yesterday which was great fun, lots of football banter, beer, guys, and snooker! I had a really fun time!
I had a library talk thing as well which was incredibly boring to the point where i was falling asleep. I do really like how laid back the city is. Everyone is really cool and chilled, theres no drama. I had some Architecture homework too!
I take back the whole "I hate it" thing. Its easy to get sucked down into negativity when you dont mingle.
My advice to you guys? MINGLE LIKE YOUR LIFE DEPENDED ON IT! because it will
