Yeah.. I definitely got at least 29/30; mrmanps, do you think I'll get both marks on the box and whisker plot comparisons if both of my comparisons were about spread (I said Girls had a smaller range, and Boys had a larger inter-quartile range) but I did include lots of values and said how much larger/smaller each is?

Re: EDEXCEL Modular Unit 1 & 2 (2381) November Solutions HIGHER
Umm, did anyone else find this exam (the second one in your list) ridiculously easy? I'm not being one of those annoying people who just go on about how easy GCSE's are and i found all of the past papers pretty average, definately not easy. But this one was ridiculous! My whole year group, including people who got U's in previous modules got the exact right answers for everything!
Oh well, i'm not complaining

Re: EDEXCEL Modular Unit 1 & 2 (2381) November Solutions HIGHERThanks plenty for this, module 1 I should get full marks(Original post by mrmanps)
see attached
There a slight error you did in it, where you wrote 39, I think you meant to write 38. As each little box = 2
The question regarding making your own survey + response boxes response boxes - dont you think 3 is a bit too few boxes, ive been told always do 5+
Also, shouldn't 0(none) have a boc of it's own?
I mean they could just be looking around the supermarket, you dont necessarily have to buy (could be their first time visiting this supermarket so, just looking around)

Re: EDEXCEL Modular Unit 1 & 2 (2381) November Solutions HIGHERNO, doesn't matter how easy the paper is, they aren't ever allowed to make A* full marks(Original post by Benmaster)
Oh well.. one more quick question, would they ever bring the boundary up to 30/30 for A*?

Re: EDEXCEL Modular Unit 1 & 2 (2381) November Solutions HIGHER
I know I definately got the IQR wrong, I just wrote the actual interquartile points rather than the actual range. I put my working out though, so hopefully will get a method mark.
Only other thing that concerns me is the questionnaire, I put ranges like
0 - (less than or equivelent to) 4
4 - (same as above) 9
etc etc up to about £20
I also put for the box diagrams that the boys had a greater range and that the girls had the highest amount of pocket money (£9.14). Dammit, I knew what I meant, just can't get it out in words!!
Think the minimum I got could be 27/30 so should be looking at an A
I'm too old for this s***

Re: EDEXCEL Modular Unit 1 & 2 (2381) November Solutions HIGHERHmm... To be honest 1 mark would be what I give you, if they are generous then 2!(Original post by TheFootyKing19)
How many marks will i get for the last question on Section B.
i did that exact Tree Diagram..and i also did 3/11 x 2/10 = 6/110.
Though i didn't do the other 2 calculations.
Will i get 2 or 3 marks?
Ok, the tree diagram (if detailed correctly, ofcourse) = 1 mark
All 3 calcualtions if you did the top method (without adding up) = 1 mark
or
If you did the bottom method, must show the multiplication calculation (8/11 x 7/10= 56/110) -- if you failed at the times you SHOULD get 1 mark still. = 1 mark.
3rd mark is awarded if you did the first method them, adding them up (even if you failed at adding up) = 1 mark
If you did second method then doing 1 - 56/110(or what ever you got from previous mark) -- (still get 3rd mark even if you failed at adding up)
4th mark = having the final answer 54/110 or 27/55 (won't get any extra marks for simplifying)
Overall, if you have labelled the tree diagram correctly then its 1 mark for sure, second mark they shouldn't give as you only gave 1 calculation, not all 3.Last edited by r88ney; 16-11-2010 at 23:48. -
Re: EDEXCEL Modular Unit 1 & 2 (2381) November Solutions HIGHERhmm for the IQR hopefully they should give you a mark, for the working out.(Original post by Gym Bunny)

Questionnaire:
0 should have a box of its own in my opinion, but looking at the paper posted on this thread (less than £10) I would say your response boxes are all correct, untill you get to £20 -- Did you state £20+??? Also, didnt you put a sign (<) instead of actually writing the words?
Well as long as your question states a time interval (each week/month) you should get 1 mark, because by the looks of things I would say your response boxes are wrong.
Just out of interest, what exactly did you write for 2 reasons for why the normal questionnaire was wrong?
Boys did have a higher (normal) range -- if you just put that for one of the reasons, then thats 1 mark. However, the second reason you stated the MAX money for girls, so you lose a mark there.
Personally this paper was equally as easy as the June2010 paper, which means the grade boundaires are going to be 29/30. UMS wise you lose A LOT of marks, 29 was equivalent to 72 UMS -- YES 8 UMS just for making a single mistake. 28 marks was 66-68 UMS, 27 was 62 UMS etc...
Dude, I would say it looks like your going to get a low A or, most likely a high B.Last edited by r88ney; 17-11-2010 at 00:07. -
Re: EDEXCEL Modular Unit 1 & 2 (2381) November Solutions HIGHEROn the Box plot comparisons you get both marks, one mark for a specific value (girls having higher highest) and another for comparison of spread (boys had greater range). More or less all previous mark schemes have said this.(Original post by Gym Bunny)

Re: EDEXCEL Modular Unit 1 & 2 (2381) November Solutions HIGHERAny answer from 36 - 42 is fine(Original post by r88ney)

3 is minimum so its fine
A box for 0 is good but not necessary for full marks
I have taught this module to a class of 32 and 18 of them got full marks. I know this module inside out
