So despite the rising tuition fees I'm planning on taking a gap year.

Due to my relatively poor academic grades I'm hoping to get some really good work experience over the next year to boost my application.

So far I've read about that Delloite scheme but I missed the deadline for that.
A 6 month placement with Rothschild investment bank but it seemed to be more admin kind of stuff.
And I looked at the KPMG gap year placement but it didn't really appeal to me.

So are there any other firms out there that offer placements?
Preferrably ones wich involve more economics...

    Thanks.
The Horizons Scheme with Accenture is another one you could look at. Economics wise, I guess for any scheme it depends on where your placed and the work your manager makes you do. Most places it will be admin work due to it being an intership for gap year students but you could learn a lot about economics from the work going on around you. Its also a good life experience

Lol you're being picky with your placements. I agree you, someone who hasn't even started his degree, should be on the front line dealing with Mergers with MD's.

HI, you can always apply to PwC(PricewaterCoopers)
They need your A-level predicted grade and thats it. I start on Monday:woo:

    Thanks a lot.

One benefit to that scheme is they also provide accomodation which was going to be a real issue.

And I realise now that perhaps I was expecting too much from a placement.

So I'll definitely apply for the Horizons scheme.

    Did you apply?
    Any tips?
Do you have any rough idea on number of applicants/succesful applicants?

    Thanks.
They don't provide accomodation, they put you in touch other applicants and you can get accomodation together. Unless they have changed it since last year

Yeah, I applied and am on it. Tips for the interview? PM me for any questions and I'll do my best. They want to take in 25 people this year, last year they took in 13 and 182 people applied.

    Hi,
I applied for the Horizons scheme and got accepted :borat: about three weeks ago. I am now filling in the various bits of paperwork

That doesn't seem to have changed.... Though that seems to be for the best. Be easiest to get accommodation with other placement people where you want.
