Government plans to scrap cap on fees

The government has announced today that it will be scrapping the newly imposed £9000 cap on undergraduate tuition fees, citing a huge shortfall in research funding.

Having already announced the maximum fees available under the previous cap, the University of Oxford and Imperial College, London have arranged an emergency meeting before noon today to reconsider their fees under the circumstances. Leaks from the University of Oxford hint that their fees will rise from £9000 to £20,000 in order to preserve the one-to-one tutorial system currently in place for all students.

The Universities Minister, David Willetts, has been quoted on this issue as saying: "After we received complaints from vice-chancellors and research fellows about the funding shortfall, we knew we had to do something. As the student is primarily the party who benefits most from an undergraduate education, it is for them to fund their studies. However, those institutions who charge the most in tuition fees will really end up looking very silly."

Thoughts guys? I don't know if I can go to university anymore.
