What are typical entry to study International Relations at undergraduate level?
I am interested in studying International Relations as i like how it combines economics, history, international law, philosophy, geography, social work, sociology, anthropology, psychology, women's studies/gender studies, and cultural studies/ culturology. I am mostly interested in the international law, anthropology, women studies side of the subject and wish to pursue a career in the UN. However, i am not sure if i can study IR because i am currently studying Math, Business, ans Art for my Alevels and am considering studying an as in either economics or government and politics as an AS. I am wondering if it would be advisable to study International Relations?

If you're interested in studying it, then of course it would be advisable to study it. I'm worried about the fact you're doing an A-level in Art though because a lot of universities don't consider it to be a particularly academic A-level. Taking a further AS, or even a complete A-level, would certainly boost your chances. From what I've heard, the University of Birmingham make AAB-ABB offers for IR, which is quite high and they'd probably expect 3 academic A-levels. The University of West England want 300 UCAS points and only require 2 A-levels. Neither specify any specific subject, but I imagine doing something like economics/politics at AS would be very beneficial, as most applicants will have studied something similar.
I think IR is one of those degrees that is often combined with another subject, so you might want to consider that. -

It depends on what unis you are looking at. Art is quite respected as a tough subject, but not an academic one. Business is also often seen as a less academic subject. Depending on where you are applying you might want to consider swapping one of those two for an ALevel in Economics or Politics. People do, however, go into IR with all sorts of different ALevel subjects.
Offers will very much depend on which uni you are going for. Russel group unis like Leeds, Bham, Nottingham, Sheffield etc will probably ask anything above ABB. Some other unis will ask for lower grades. -
Re: What are typical entry to study International Relations at undergraduate level?Your subject combination should be fine for most unis. Typical entry requirements grades wise, for a Russell or 1994 group uni you need a minimum of ABB, with more and more unis asking for AAB. For an ex poly you'd need around BBC.(Original post by conchitam)
