Re: American Studies Visit, Wednesday 6th April.
Yeah, not sure what to expect though! I'm in year 12, so I'm sort of using this as a bit of an introduction into what to expect at uni, rather than for the specific content of the day. I don't have a clue about what I want to do at uni so hopefully this may spark some interest somewhere inside me!

Re: American Studies Visit, Wednesday 6th April.
If anyone went to this today would they mind posting about what it was like and what was talked about? My invitation to the visit days was only for the school of Film and television studies when i would have prefered to have found out a bit more about the american studies side of the degree.

Re: American Studies Visit, Wednesday 6th April. There was a talk from some of the American Studies staff as to how the courses are set out. In your first year you get a firm grounding in your subject and after that there is plenty of free choice to pick and choose from a vast range of modules to essentially build your own degree. Very interdisciplinary so you can do all sorts; History, Politics, Literature, Wars and much more....(Original post by Heyyouthere)

Current students spoke of their time on the year abroad, obviously sold it very well,
sounds like an amazing opportunity.
Not really sure what else to add to that, hope it is some help. -
Re: American Studies Visit, Wednesday 6th April. Thanks for that, i'm looking forward to going even more now. Did they mention if the year abroad options were still U.S.A, canada, Australia and New Zealand?(Original post by Riley26)

- 1/2 a year in America and 1/2 in Australia/New Zealand
- 1/2 a year in America and 1/2 in Hong Kong -
Re: American Studies Visit, Wednesday 6th April.I forgot to mention i'd be doing Film & American studies so i think my year abroad options are slightly different than if you're doing just American studies, although the 1/2 year in Hong Kong sounds great.(Original post by Student_Blondie)
