How to Structure Answers to English Language A
    Hi everyone,

I am basically finished my revision for tomorrow's exam, but I am slightly confused as to how I will structure my answers. In the first question for example, if it asks for the main arguments, and it's 7 marks, do I just write out the arguments with quotes or put it in my own words. (7 arguments I presume)

Other than that, looking forward to getting these exams over with, good luck everyone!

I think you should answer it in your own words and quote. So, pull out a quote and explain it, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

For the first question, you should write in your own words but you could intergrate quotes, too.

For facts and opinions make sure you say what effect they have.

For a question that asks something along the lines of "what does... think about...." you will need to just extract points from the text. Usually the number of marks for the question is the number of points you need to extract, these questions are normally 6 or 7 marks.

For a question that asks "how are facts and opinions used?", you will need to find a couple of facts and opinions and explain their purpose and the effect of them on the audience.

For a question that asks "how is language used?", you will need to identify multiple language techniques, e.g. metaphors & similes in the text and then explain their individual purposes and target audience.

Hopes this helps, I had to rush this so it might be kind of brief.

    Good luck for your exam!
