Pass Plus only good for one year?
I'm in my second year of insurance with Quinn Direct, and last year when I did the pass plus they gave me back pretty much what I paid for the course anyway.

This year they have said that it only applies in the first year so I don't get a discount for it.

Do all insurance companies do this? I may as well not have done it if that is the case...

Yep its only valid once. Like a voucher.
I dont see the point of pass plus to be honest. You pay roughly £160 for pass plus and get about 200 knocked off insurance.
You might aswell just do all the pass plus with a member of your family guiding you.
And sometimes the pass plus makes no difference to the insurance.

They were the cheapest by far for me in my second year, £1550 for a 1.4 ford fiesta, and when I upgraded to a 1.6 Astra they gave me £50 back 0.o

I think I will definitely change next year though, they won't let me do deliveries in my car for a job

I don't like how it says they are under administration either...

Most companies ask 'have you completed pass plus within the last 24 months?' so I think you're better off looking for a new quote with a new company.

Who are they to say your not allowed to do deliveries in your own car? I have heard that their under administration as well. i hope they are, I hope they are forced out of the market

To do deliveries you need a special business clause on your insurance, and they don't do it :/

I only hope they are forced out AFTER I have had my paid for year with them xD

I'm with Direct Line, and their policy is the same.

I would only be eligible for the discount for a year after I'd informed them I'd done it (and that have to be within one year of passing my test), and then the discount is only 5%.

I didn't do it in the end, as the cost of extra lessons would vastly out-way the advantage of the discount, and that's the only reason I would've done it. I can get road experience by just driving around myself.

I dont see the point of it either. Quite a few people i talked to at 6th form said that their quotes had only been slightly cheaper when they had done pass plus (certainly not cheaper enough to justify doing it) or in some cases it wasnt cheaper at all.
Im not sure about it only being valid for the first year though.
I would consider doing it to get experience, but thats all, i wouldnt do it to get cheaper insurance.

This must be only valid for you??
i've just paid £1200 on a 2010 Ford Focus worth roughly £16000 in my own name and me as the named driver bearing in mind that was at 18 years old This was under pass plus didn't check without it but im with admiral at the moment so maybe they accept it? Oh and my pass plus was 18 months old when i got the insurance
I'd try admiral and there 10 month bonus accelerator which you can do up to 5 years in a row, 5 years for the the price of 4 is well worth it in my eyes however ive now got my advanced driving at they massively beat any quote if you get insured with them. I know its a little of topic from the pass plus but they quoted £500 for my mums audi down from £1600. Might be worth you doing this but you have to be 19 to get insured with them.

I did pass plus, cant remember what it cost now but i remember thinking at the time that it knocked enough off my insurance to make a saving of about £50, so probably worth doing and you get the extra experience of course.

Re: Pass Plus only good for one year?
the value of the car is £16,000 ( the higher the more insurance goes up)
Admiral is my insurance company, you can do a 10 month bonus accelerater which basically gives you a years no claims bonus after 10 months and you only pay for 10 out of the 12 months insurance
they only do this up to 5 times though so effictively you could have 5 years no claims bonus when you should have only 4.
The IAM is another qualification like pass plus but takes it further teaching you how to drive more economically and judge the road more etc. (there full of themselves the instructors) but i did it to get discount. At 19+ they will guarantee to beat any quote which as i showed with my mums audi saved a fair bit.
    If i missed owt sorry

Thanks mate. Thats much better. Did you get much discount for the IAM?

And your first sentence 'this must only be valid for you' means?

they gave me £35 discount which i laughed at but at least if i go with the IAM i get a cheaper insurance quote plus extras such as free track day cover

The first sentence meant admiral took my pass plus certificate even though it was 18 months old so it might just be certain companies?
I'm not sure i just know i got a good deal with my insurance
