    "Head start" on AS levels
I don't want to start studying for AS until September but I do want to casually read over some of the basics for my AS options (Bio, Chem, Phys and Japanese - although I don't expect there to be a lot online about AS Japanese) especially as I'll be slightly behind others in my classes next year because I did not do triple science.

The problem is I don't know any websites to introduce me to AS. Could anyone help?

Timmah suggests you drop japanese and pick up maths

Timmah also suggests using CGP books because they are the best

I suggest finding out which exam board you're with then buying textbooks for them and givin them a read. People on here who have already done the same exam will be happy to help, I would, but they are not any of my subjects.

    Good luck :-)

I suggest enjoying your summer because you will regret it next year! Just have fun you have plenty of time.

Theres probably little point, you'd spend ages reading over the things you'd be taught in the first lesson back at school, all that time for nothing

I was considering it for a long time but I value languages too much to give up Japanese! :P

Haha, thanks! I'll still definitely be out much more than I'm in this Summer but I just need something a little bit productive to do or I might start next year with soup for a brain

Why does everyone always say this? You can have a fun summer AND prepare yourself for sixth form. I'm sure most people have enough time in the 2 and a half months to do both!

What's wrong with getting a head start?

You probably will not be at a disadvantage by not doing triple science, I did double science a year early and I found I was at the same level as those who had done triple

But if you want to get a headstart, I would suggest finding out what exam boards all your subjects are on, then buying the appropriate textbooks/revision guides and then just reading through them. You can PM me for bio and chem help if you want, good luck

How about you ask the teachers who teach the AS subjects if they can give you any infomation. If not they might be able to tell you which exam boards they use so that you can buy the text books.

Do this, the summer after GCSE's will prob's be the last one you will have (sort of). I've finished year 12 going into year 13 and I'm spending my summer revising and doing coursework. The year after is going to be your very last one most probs due to after sixth form/collage it is either work or uni and you won't have a proper summer holiday from that. That summer is generally spent on holiday with your mates etc and thats it/.

The message I'm getting at is enjoy your summer while you can, the chances of getting another one like this is very slim!

Nothing really, but in reality there's little you can gain from it. I tried, I did it last summer and it wasn't that productive. After GCSEs is one of the best times to have fun, just chill out for a bit. Why bother making yourself extra stressed for little gain?
