    MSc. Finance and Private Equity
    Hi,

I was wondering if any of you could help me. I've just finished my second year of studies at Cass Business School in London and want to apply to the above mentioned course. My first year at uni went pretty badly, I got a 2:2 (58%). My second year should average between 68-72, and hopefully my final year will come out at around 72-75.. Overall that would take my degree classification to around 72%.

I also have alot of extra curricular activities and multiple Internships with tier 2 and bulge bracket investment banks.

Would my poor first year grade (I had 2 part-time jobs to fund my degree), how badly have my chances been hit?

    Thanks

Don't think you'll get in. The MSc in Finance/Private Equity is ridiculously competitive and difficult to get in. No harm in trying though.

okay...you may want to look into doing the GMAT and scoring 700+, its so competitive!...LSE is to tough to get into for the Finance department...you should definitely have back up choices in other schools..also look at doing internships most LSE applicants have done more than one internship, loads of extra cirricular activities at uni and have excellent grades..

True, but having said that, there are quite a few from Cass doing MSc courses there. For IFRM, I have seen graduates from MSc Finance & Economics/Management & Regulation of Risk/Risk & Stochastic.

Is GMAT even required id someone has a 1st from a UK university? I don't believe it is.. but i'm applying to HEC too, and they do need a GMAT, alongside a 1st minimum class degree .. So I will be doing GMAT regardless and could just submit my score with my application

Also, I'm only applying to HEC and LSE, no other schools. I'm not doing a masters because i couldn't get a job and i need to find something to fill my time for a year.. I'm doing it because I want to continue my education for another year at the LSE because I really like the place.. i'd love to be educated there.

I have many internships, I'm not worried about not competing on that front.

Great to hear! Do you think the first year grade will turn out to be too much of a barrier for me, even if I do end up graduating with a 1st and having had LOTS of experience and ECs?

As you found from your internship applications, no-one gives a **** about your first year grades- why should LSE, when they can make demands based on your overall grades? Good luck anyway, from students doing MSc Fin & P.E. that I've come across, you have every chance.

Wow you're a c()nt. Did you even read my post?

I'm still in my second year of uni, all my internships were in my first year, doesn't matter how good I was I wouldn't land a full time offer in my first year you pr1ck. I'm interning this summer again and I'm confident I'll convert into full time.

I said I wanted to do my masters degree because I wanted to continue my education, not because I couldn't get a job.

    Get a life bro.

Since you're iraqi you should have no problem getting into LSE. Don't forget to fund the university through their offshore accounts though!

Just like I had no problem getting into your mum. I funded that venture by slipping a 20 down her bra. Very cheap she was. Stop killing my thread. Move on. Ciao.
