    Writing a book...
I'm currently a student, bored waiting for the new semester to start...

I have fancied writing a book for some time, perhaps a young adult fantasy novel, or a crime thriller. I have a few ideas in mind, I'm just looking for some input:

    1) What do you feel are the essentials in a book? A romantic element?

    2) When I say 'fantasy novel' - what immediately springs to mind?

    3) How unrealistic can it be?

    4) Should I start a blog? Any suggestions how I can do this?

Can I just add, when I say I want to write a book, I don't fancy myself as the next JK Rowling or anything, I'm really just looking to occupy myself.

    Any feedback welcome.

Hmm I don't really know much about the fantasy genre, but what I do like to read is fantasy which can still convey very real relationships and problems, ones which I'd in some way still be able to relate to.
