University of Aberdeen English Degree... MA (Hons) attainable without BA?
After looking over the English Degree course at Aberdeen I realised that it was a masters course and that they dont provide bachelor degrees. Yet, when I looked at the entry requirements it asked for BBB at A-Level so Im quite confused now! I assumed that you couldnt do a master degree without a bachelors, but am I wrong? Is this a special type of degree?
I would really love some help to explain their system since I havent got a clue
The link to the course is this: http://www.abdn.ac.uk/english/
Thank you! -
Re: University of Aberdeen English Degree... MA (Hons) attainable without BA?
It's a Scottish Masters which is an undergrad degree, not an everywhere-except-Scotland Masters which is a postgrad degree. It's not that different from a regular Bachelors degree, except it's four years long and it's more flexible - because in the first two years you can take up to two outside courses per year, you can wait to decide what degree you want to do until you reach honours in third year.

The ancient Scottish universities plus Dundee award MA rather than BA undergraduate degrees as part of tradition. It is exactly the same as a regular bachelors degree except that it is called an MA instead of a BA, due to tradition. In your first two years, you'll get to choose subjects outside of your core degree (e.g. if you're doing English, you can take politics, psychology, and maybe even science classes too, I dunno [my mum has an MA from Aberdeen in psychology and could have taken chemistry and biology classes, albeit it's not English]).
