Re: How do you Rationalize your Death?
Depends on your view of life.... I say life would be pointless without death, forget the after life or a religious viewpoint, but the fact that from the moment we are born our bodies are ticking time bombs creates a sense of urgency whether it be to have kids ; achieve greatness; contribute to the world; or just have a good life...

Re: How do you Rationalize your Death?
Tbh it's strange, existing and experiencing the world is the only thing we know, sometimes I find the idea of not existing a little scary and fasincating, not to feel anything or think anything when that's all we've ever been able to do. So when you die, the world as you percieve it just ends. When I was younger I used to get really scared that I would just be floating in the dark forever after I died. Now I just don't tend to think about it very often, it's going to happen regardless.
It's like leaping into the unknown. Quite literally.Last edited by KJane; 23-09-2011 at 03:03. -

I just don't think about it -
Re: How do you Rationalize your Death?yeah but mostly I deal with the idea by ignoring it. I only really think about it when someone mentions it or it comes up because of something.(Original post by Fusion)
Surely everyone thinks about it at some point....
I used to be really scared of dying but now I'm more scared of not doing things that I should of before it happens the idea of knowing I'm about to die and thinking "I wish I'd done/said x" and I'll never get another chance is much more terrifying than the actual idea of being dead I think.
with that in mind ignoring the fact that its going to happen is probably pretty stupid but we all have flaws. -
Re: How do you Rationalize your Death?
I believe the best thing one can do IS think about it. Those who don't are scared of it like me - and everyone else. I think we should think about - i do all the time. There is no point ingnoring it otherwise life will go very very quickly. I have spoken to people aged 80 and above and all of them say how quickly their lives have gone. If we think about death we might learn to enjoy life more and seize the day. Although in reality this is difficult too. No-one will ever know what happens after we die. It is a scary thought but I do believe it should be discussed more - even though it is not a pleasant topic. However very few people actually want to discuss it.

Re: How do you Rationalize your Death?
For YOU there is no voidness, you only experience life, as long as your living. Your last memory will live for eternity. You will never experience time outside of your life.
TBH I probably will kill myself, if life gets boring. Death is just something which happens, if you are happy, you won't want to go. If you are in pain, you might look forward to death.
If I got shot in the brain right now, I would not care, to me it doesn't make any difference whether I live or die. It would be an awful situation for my friends and family, but for me it makes no difference.Last edited by Engineer31; 23-09-2011 at 03:27.
