    Tabata Squats + 700-900 calories a day
I have recently been told by my cousin sister that she has been doing tabata squats and consuming 700-900 calories a day. I asked her why she was doing this and she simply replied "because I'm fat". She is 5'2" and looks a healthy size 10/12 to me
I know she had been suffereing anorexia earlier this year but I thought she recovered.

In terms of weight loss/burning fat, how rapidly do you think she will see results?
I'm scared for her health but I know for a fact that no matter what she says, she will carry on like this until she gets the results she's hoping for so I'm hoping that she gets the results fast because she is a very stubborn person who believes that this way is the only way forward!

clothes size is irrelevant when it comes to the size of a person, you're saying shes a 10/12 but at 5ft2 that could still mean shes fat

Sorry, I mean she looks good for her height. Last time she told me, which was a couple of weeks ago, her measurements were 36-31-38. In terms of weight in lbs/kg/st, I don't think she really focusses too much on those because I remember a few months ago, she said something along the lines of: "I don't focus on my weight in kg or lbs because I see the skinniest people weighing more in kg than me! I prefer focussing on my measurements because those are what I really wanna lose".

Her waist is 31" - lower than what it says on the website.
That still doesn't answer my question about whether the effects of Tabata and 700-900 calories.

She'll ruin her metabolism with such low calorie diet.

She should gradually lower her calorie intake instead.

thats why i said 'on the cusp'

if she wants to lose weight then fair play but she should do it properly, i lost weight last year eating 1000 cals a day (sometimes 900 odd) and believe me if she does tabata properly she wont have the energy to do it on that low a cal intake

if she can do it on that low an intake, she is not doing it properly

That's what I told her but then she said "that's why I'm doing Tabata".
She knows her metabolism will slow down after eating -900 calories so she's doing tabata workouts too raise her metabolism

I told her this aswell but she just replied "I don't think that I've been doing it properly for a number of months but it's been working anyway"
And she's not lying there! Being the only exercise that she has been doing, Tabata has really helped her lose a good amount of weight. However, considering she'll be doing it with a -900 calorie diet, I just need some idea of how fast she'll be expecting results because if it's not fast at all then at least I can convince her to go at it another way

The main point here is that she has a history of anorexia so she should be encouraged to seek help as this sounds like an instance of relapse.

Even if she isn't dangerously underweight or physically unhealthy it is still possible that mentally, she isn't completely well.

Plan is stupid. Her mindset is stupid.

She will fail and get pissed off and go off the rails. Continue to try to educate her on proper diet and exercise. Try to get across that it's a lifestyle change and even if you lose weight//get fitter/whatever you've still got to keep at it forever.

To be honest, she may not be fully recovered from her eating disorder. If she is not prepared to face recovery, she will not admit she has a problem and will just say she is fine/recovered if asked about her ED.

And 700-900kcal cannot be healthy for an active person who isn't a dwarf. :s

I'm sure she knows full well that's not a healthy amount to eat.

    Also:

S she said something along the lines of: "I see the skinniest people
Comparing self to thinnest person sounds very EDed.
