i am 15 almost 16 in half a year and i was just wondering what is the best savings account that i should get. i heard about the chidrens isas and i think that they are 3% interest. but what do you reccomend? i do realise that i will most likely have to change my account when i'm 16. -
Re: What bank account should i open?that's a good idea i'll keep that in mind(Original post by Skaterkid)

Re: What bank account should i open? When I got to choose which bank account I wanted I picked HSBC because of their name - didnt care about isa/interest rates(Original post by Jed123)

Re: What bank account should i open?thanks for your help(Original post by oliveredmunds)
There are a few. Santander hsbc lloysd and amex.
However i know santander and lloyds and the best in my oppinion as santander offer a high intrest and lloyds get you discount on your driving lessons.
But its entirly up to you. -
Re: What bank account should i open?
Its okay if you need anymore help then inbox me. However i would wait until after christmas as the intrest rate is meant to go up. Also DO NOT get a account just because of the name you need to look at the intrest rate and also perks along with how much you can put in until the intrest goes down.

Re: What bank account should i open?Well i know santander can go up to 6% and everyother one is around 3/4%(Original post by T.I.)
To be honest the difference between the interest levels is quite small and with the amounts young people (15/16 year olds) have, it wont make much of a difference. -
Re: What bank account should i open?Exactly, but if some one is depositing £1000 (a good figure to base this on), the 2% gap that you have just created between the banks is not worth a lot (not even enough to potentialy cover the petrol money between 2 different banks).(Original post by oliveredmunds)

Re: What bank account should i open?Yep that is true and also you can not have funds over £500.00 in your account so i would suggest going for lloyds as they offer cheapre driving lessons?(Original post by T.I.)

Re: What bank account should i open?My santander customer service was pretty good i have used them a few times for lost cards stolen cards ect(Original post by jacketpotato)
Barclays. Natwest and Santander have awful customer service. Whenever something went wrong with my Natwest acc it took ages to fix.
Or whatever acc has the best freebies. -
Re: What bank account should i open?Natwest have been ok with me. I've had my main account open since I was in year 6(Original post by jacketpotato)

Is there an easy way to find out which account has the best interest rates or do I have to visit each of their websites?
