Hopefully this means that I should get mine soon. Sort of dreading it at the same time though, the SAQ for Cambridge nearly killed me and from what I've seen from other people with the UCL questionnaires, these are worse!

The questionnaires are fine!
The questions aren't too bad, just do your best and try to really convince them that you're a good candidate, and you'll have no problem.

Any idea what site, book, artefact or whatever you're going to write about?

I certainly need to try and convince them - as time goes by I start to doubt the strength of my application even more, and while I love the other universities I've applied to, UCL is in Bloomsbury in London, one of my favourite places in the world (and family friends who live in London have said that I'm welcome to eat at theirs whenever so when I'm out of money I have food sorted!)

Is it general so you can write about anything do with archaeology? If so, I may write about the Staffordshire Hoard. I'm hopefully going to visit it at the Birmingham Museum soon (it's ridiculous how I still haven't seen it) but it's something local and relevant.

Everyone's application is different, and yeah as time goes by, you do start to doubt how yours might compare to someone else's. But they see everyone as a separate person, so try not to fret

The Staffordshire Hoard should be fine, it fits the criteria for the question. It it an interesting hoard, we studied it at college. I think I'm right in saying it was first discovered by a metal detectorist?

You're lucky if that's nearby to you, we don't have much near me apart from Yewden Villa (and that's two bus journeys away), though I suppose I'm only half an hour from London, so there's always the museums.

Congratulations on how many replies you've had so far! Those sounds like some tough A levels as well, so good luck with those. I think your grades sound pretty good, so I wouldn't worry.

Which Southampton open day are you going to? I have one as well
Hope they give you an interview as well at UCL

Out of curiosity, which uni is your top choice?

Ah, thanks! I'm definitely hoping they take into account that my bad grade was in a fairly tough subject, hah. I'm not sure which I'll attend yet- I need to double check the dates of my Jan exams (Biology and Chemistry unit 4, a Chem resit AND General Studies, argh) as I don't want to be preparing for Soton when I'm still revising, but I'll probably go for the December 14th one anyway. What about you?

I like all of my uni choices- unlike a lot of people who seem to have padded their choices with places they don't really care about. But UCL and Durham are definitely my joint favourites. It's going to be so difficult choosing if I'm lucky enough to get offers from them both! Sheffield's probably my second favourite, with Soton and York joint third.

Fingers crossed you do! I've relaxed so much now I've heard back from a couple of places, even if they're not offers. It's the waiting that's horrible :/ The questionnaire doesn't look too bad- I'm nervously optimistic about filling it in, hah

I'm sure they will! My Southampton interview is on the 14th of December too
UCL is by far my favourite. I guess Oxford is after that, and then maybe Southampton? But if I don't get into UCL I'll be heartbroken.

That awkward moment when you realise the admissions tutor lied about giving interview news today >.<

I'm applying for the BA Arch, with AABD at AS and predicted AAA this year. I'm resitting one of the Politics papers to hopefully get the B up to an A...
I'm hoping the insane amount of archaeology stuff I've done outside of school will make up for the fact I can't speak French (although I got an A in it at GCSE...)

I recieved the questionnaire on Friday night, having applied early/mid October. About to send it off now

Good luck guys!

Those are some fab grades! Hope you manage to pull that grade up
They only want a foreign language at GCSE level anyway, so I'm sure that'll be fine.
What kinda stuff have you done outside of school? I'm quite curious to hear about people's experience.

Noice, congrats on getting a questionnaire. What site did you write about?

Yep, I'm definitely coming on the December day, now- just posted my reply form! EDIT: (just saw your post, lol) Wow, congratulations on the interview! That's brilliant. Did they give you any personal feedback, or was it just 'you have been successful etc.'

Nice grades! Good luck  I got my questionnaire on Friday too, and it's mostly filled in- but I want to absolutely certain I'm 100% happy with it before I send it off. Hah, I'm definitely hoping that my archaeological experience and enthusiasm will make up for not-as-good grades as well. It definitely helps, as a few departments I've looked at (of the top of my head, Sheffield) have even said they'll lower your offer if you have a lot of prior experience.

Bog standard response, but I got a lovely email from her on Friday that was more personal. I assume we'll get more specialised responses at the interview.

Kinda the high point of my day - only an hour after I got the email I was ran over by a car on my way to the Brownies I help out at :s-smilie: I don't recommend it, it's painful and by far the scariest moment of my life to date.

YOU GOT RUN OVER BY A CAR?

S--T.

Are you ok?

Also, many congratulations on the interview! I'm having a bit of a panic at the moment because the original date was 30th November but due to strikes, this has been changed to the 14th - potentially the Oxford interview date. I wish I could know a little sooner from Oxford... I'm not entirely sure what to tell the admissions lady...

CONGRATULATIONS!!! I'm so happy for you  When is it?

And I do hope you're feeling better after the car incident - at least there was one bright point of the day!

My interview is on the 7th  Luckily my mum got the day off work too, so I wont have to go on my own :P

Yeah I'm doing ok! It was such a shock, you never expect something that crazy to happen. Pretty much every muscle in my body hurts though, and I have some gnarly bruises to show for it xD Thanks for all the kind words
Oh dear. I got the questionnaire and I'll be sending it tomorrow morning. Thing is, I have an interview at Cambridge on the 7th of December. And on the 25th of January I have my baccalaureat mock exams, which I definitely can't miss (if I don't prepare well for my baccalaureat, there's no point in stressing about unis)... What to do?

Well see what interview date they give you, and if there's a problem, ring and ask to reschedule

They'll almost certainly be able to reschedule you. Also you're unlikely to be on the 7th if you're in a different batch of questionnaires although I'm not so sure if they're this close together. But anyway, they should be flexible

Wow, congratulations on the interview! Good for you  And get better soon- eesh, that must have been horrible :frown: Maybe the universe felt it had to karmicly balance out the awesome thing that'd just happened to you?

I just sent off my questionnaire... I'm absolutely terrified but also really glad it's done and out of my hands. Fingers crossed!

Oh, and yakuzakitty, I think you mentioned earlier that you got an email from the admissions tutor on the Friday after you sent off your questionnaire? I'm guessing it was confirmation that they'd received it- I only ask because I get really paranoid about sending emails and always want to make sure the other person's got it

Thank you  Haha, possibly. Now that's a thought...
Yeah, just a kind of "thanks for returning the questionnaire, be back to you in a couple of days" kinda thing.

Ohh I'm exactly the same :P
