    Doing research for BTEC Assignments
I know copy & pasting is counted as plagerism but in some assignment they do ask you to research things for example for my new assignment they asking me to reasearch new networking technologies and what they do etc.Am I meant to research them and right it in my own words or can i write it word for word?I mean its not exactly cheating if I know nothing about the emerging technology so it wouldnt be seen as plagerism if i copy and paste these techenolgies and what they do?I dont understand how I could write it in my own words as i'm not the manufacturer lol

Whether you copy and paste - the proper term is 'quote' :P - or put it in your own words put the name of the source in brackets at the bottom of the sentence/paragraph/page, whatever is most appropriate.

If you copy and paste you must acknowledge the source.
if it is from a web page you must state the web address and the date you accessed it.
If it is from a book you must state the author, book and page

yes you can, but I'm sure that you will also have to add some of your own paragraphs to show you have some understanding of what you have researched, or to explain the way technology is advancing? (i'm not on this course but from work I have done in the past we always had to add some of our own thoughts)

Aslong as you reference it, then it will be OK. Didn't they go through the Harvard Method of Referencing at college with you?
