    GSK Year in Industry
Hi I'm a Biomed Student at Southampton and recently applied for a few 'year in industry' placements for Glaxo Smith Kline... They say on the website that you should expect a phone interview before a face-to-face interview but I'm yet to hear back about anything 2 months down the line.

Wondered if anyone else is in my position or if anyone has heard back yet?

Companies tend not to contact applicants until the deadlines for applications are close to or have ended. In my experience they tend to be open from about October till early/mid January, then they reopen again later. If they intend to contact you they will probably start in the next couple of weeks, if your concerned send an email to your contact, they are normally quite helpful.

Thanks for the advice! I only wondered because the GSK dates are all closed now so I just wondered if it was a little unusual! I'll give them a couple more weeks and then drop them an email!

When did you apply? I applied for a different Industrial Placement in October (before the first deadline) and have got an assessment centre this week (didn't have a telephone interview).

I applied back in October as well for most of them and November for a few... is yours with a different company? GSK seemed to have individual deadlines for each placement so I suppose each department is different.

No it's with GSK, and it was a different department (not R&D) so maybe that is why (Sorry, realise I didn't say that it was with GSK in my other post!)
