    Buying a maltese puppy

    eeeeeeeeeeeeee

Just wondering, how come the prices of these dogs range from £200-£1400. Where can I make sure to find a good, reputable breeder?

    Hi,
The £200 ones will 99% be scams, and any cheap ones that are not scams will be puppy farm ones.

A good place to start is the kennel club website or champdogs.

ETA if you see an advert and would like someone experienced to look over it for you to see if they think its a scam then I can help.

Get a proper Dog man, I really don't get the appeal of fluffy rats.

    Puppy farms.

Btw anyone who buys companion animals rather than adopting is a bit of a douche tbh.

e-pups, is quite good. My sister bought two dogs off there, still alive, no deformities.... just very cuddly and cute.

Epups allows anyone to advertise and is free, so is more likely to have puppy farmers etc. on it. (its reputation among reputable breeders is not great).

You do get some good breeders on there. None of our dogs were bought from a puppy farm. I'll check if it was e-pups/z I swear my sister paid a small fee.

Contact the Maltese club of gb and search around.
But seriously if you want to buy a healthy dog you may have to wait a few years! In that time you can prepare yourself financially at least.

I recommend going to crufts and talking to exhibitors there and they may be able to point out some good breeders.
    Alternatively look in rescues etc.

For those of you saying they're "rats" maltese dogs have been around for longer than most of these 'tough' dogs and many terriers have their origins in similar dogs.
Just because something is smaller than something else does not mean it is any less value. A 1ct diamond is still a 1ct diamond whether it is on a necklace or a ring .

Get a border collie, the "asian student" of dogs.

Any offence caused was nto intentional. I have no qualms with those different from myself, and am merely having a small joke. Cheers!

Please don't buy a designer puppy and have a look around your local rescue homes first. There are dogs there who are perfectly wonderful and loving pets and need homes.

    Re: Buying a maltese puppy
Hey, I havent read the rest of these threads but I just want to say, the reason these puppies are so expensive is because the breeders want to gain as much money as they can, regardless of the horrible torture they put the breeding dogs through. Maltese dogs especially are bred on puppy farms where they are kept in horrible conditions with lack of food, water, lighting and general love and compassion to their state of health. I would recommend you get a rescue dog if you do truly love dogs, as buying a dog from a pet store (often coming from puppy farms) is continuing the torture these dogs go through.

It's a hard subject and quite controversial but sadly a reality. Theirs a great campaign going to stop puppy farms and there are ways you can help on their website. Type in : puppylovecampaigns on google and it will come up. Good luck with finding your perfect companion xx

why have you got your heart set on a pedigree? because it looks cute?

seriously, take a trip to your local RSPCA or Dogs Trust or whatever. There are so many thousand cute, adorable, loving dogs out there that have been abandoned, mistreated, or neglected. They are all just waiting for a loving and caring home. I'm assuming that if you're willing to take on a Maltese, with all it's complex grooming requirements, then you've got more than enough time and dedication to rehome a rescue dog.

Please please please don't buy a pedigree, for so many reasons.

Give your money to a rescue charity, not a breeder, and get a great, less inbred, dog for it. God knows the charity will put your money to better use. think about it.

Just don't get a dog. If you want a pedigree from a breeder, you probably want a dog for all the wrong reasons.
