Was wondering if anyone knew any good general books/reading for Economics at UCL?

If you're in the textbook mood, I suggest you buy Varian Intermediate microeconomics. Chapters are small and very well explained. It will be very useful in year 1 and also possibly in year 2 as an intro to new topics.

If you don't want to start with all this, I would recommend you to read an economic history book (I think UCL recommends one) as, apart from a module in economic history in year 1, this material won't be covered at all during your 3 years at UCL.

Also I highly recommend you watch Inside Job, Capitalism: a love story, the corporation and read a few books on social democracy and economics of inequalities. That when you sign your investment bank job offer you know what you're going into.
